My Vacation -Ideas?

Hello, all....

Well, I've reached a certain plateau with the video company I work with, & I've earned my first paid vacation! Now..... What should I do? It's between Dec. 27 and Jan. 3, and I want to do something cool, but inexspensive, for New Years. At first, I was going to the Tickle Gathering in San Jose, but I also bought a new car, so money is shorter than I hoped.... so airfare & a hotel/motel will be a little costly... THEN I figured I could go to the casinos & shows in Shreveport or Bossier City in LA ( i'm from TX, so trvel would be cheap, as would be food/drinks. Well, I find out there AREN'T any shows in these places, only gambling....... So, I'm wondering, does anyone know of an good place to get out of Dallas for 4 to 7 days for $500 or so (cheap motels don't scare me - I just need a place to shower, sleep and grad some occasional down time) ? Obviously this is not tickling related, but if anyone wanted to meet up....! What's out there? I will be alone, so please, nothing couple orineted.... Rafting? Digging my own diamonds? Pub crawls? Nightclubs? Running of the bull terriers?

Whenever I can't decide where to go, it's my "default" destination. If you don't have a great time there, you just aren't trying. Not even just the casinos(although the architectural wonders of those are incredible), the shows are nearly Broadway quality, the comedy clubs are a great place to see up and coming talent that will be the next generation on primetime TV and movies, the jazz/music clubs are varied and intersting...good golf courses, some hellacious scenery not too far out of town if you're into desert views, cheap buffets for existence, 24 hour everything, and if you're like me, just people watching in general in that town...it's better than Times Square even at the height of its strangest period in the 80's....just a thought. Thanks for the imput! Everyone seems to be steering me to Vegas, so That might be just the place......
