Tax the Internet?

I caught the tail end of a story on the news tonight about a plan to tax the internet in some way.I assume this must be a federal plan?I'm sure some of you must know what's going on here.It sounds to me like yet another attempt to interfear with our live's and restrict our freedom.The internet is a lifeline to the world for many people for different reason's and i don't like the sound of this at all.If anyone can let me know what's going on and if it's not to late to fight this idea it would be appreciated.

The best place to find out whats going on bugman is to visit www.eff.org IMHO. The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has been fighting for people electronic rights for some time. If anyone would know about anything attempts to tax the internet it would be them.

Its more than likely the goverment looking for a way to increase its revenue to support all the red tape they wish to inflict upon us. Just my opinion though.

Im sure the government has been planning ways to tax the internet for awhile.
