BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHWHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA AHAA HAHAAAAAAA HAHA
AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA...."!

Shows that a group of over paid over priced group of INDIVIDUALS and primadonnas with big contracts in a Pinstriped uniform cannot win a champoinship.
It takes a TEAM.

Ship A(sshole)Rod and his private jet along with his 25 MILLION dollar salary out of town along with Sheffield.
That would be a good start.

Blame not Joe Torre for the inability of the team on the field.

As for the Skankees, BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA
you got exactly what you deserve and played exactly how a group of individual swelheadded looosers are expected to play.
200 million bucks flushed down into the east river.
Have fun playing golf Yankees!

Lets Go METS!
A TEAM of players.

Ps Took me a few days to write this because I could not stop laughing at those SKANKS!

It doth my old heart good whenever the Yankee's lose i must admit.

bad day to post this. I know you Yankee haters are happy, but such a sad tragedy with Cory Lidle.

I hate the Yankees as well but I don't think that TTD meant anything by this. In fact, we know he didn't mean anything by the post itself. But that being said, I agree. Today is not the today to pick on the Yankees or their fans as they lost a member of their family. May Corey Lidle rest in peace. :(

Just deleted my reaction for that reason, but my first unthinking response posted was a reply in kind... the mind automatically gravitates toward the positive (or silly...) rather than the somber I guess.

I guess this is a day for the country to celebrate because the Yanks lost, and then to lose Lidle makes it double tough for Yanks fans

I guess the only other people sad to see the Yanks go is the network execs, who will lsoe millions because their cash cow/golden egg is gone

Yes indeed it is sad about Cory and had nothing to do with my post. The post was a long time coming and changes nothing about the Yankee org being the joke of sports that it is or has become since the days of Mantle, Joe D, Munson and that era group who played the game for the love OF the game and not for the big paycheck but I digress.
Cory, was just brought up from Philly so I wouldn't even group HIM with the swell headed stuck up candy a$$es the Yankees are.
He spoke his mind and got trashed by Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN this past weekend and both myself and the wife felt sorry for him. He gave an honest forthright and true opinion of why the Yankees (one of reasons) lost to the Tigers and was attacked and critisized negatively by the media and Mike and the Mad Dog(Chris Russo) will have to live with their actions forevermore.
Hopefully he (Cory) will be at the gates of whatever heaven there is when George and the rest of the current Yankees arrive and will slam the gate in their greedy self centered faces.

My heart felt condolences to Corys friends and family.

Yankees have talent and good players, good enough to bring them back when naturally people prematurely counted them out as the injuries came. If anyone you should laugh at boston and their cocky selfish players and how they choked at the end of the season. And by cocky i primarily mean Manny Ramirez and his "injured knee"

What does network execs have to do with the passing of Corey Lidle???

Yes i must agree, and i had not heard of that when i posted.May God bless his family and watch over them.

Not to sound like a joke, but when will sports players learn to take the greyhound?

Knute Rockne, Rocky Marciano, Roberto Clemente, Thurman Munson, Davey Allison, Brook Berringer, Payne Stewart, and now Cory Lidle

Actually, the Yankees always had a large payroll. During the height of the Great Depression, Babe Ruth was paid the unheard of sum of $100,000 per season. When asked how he felt about being paid more than the president, The Babe replied, "Well, I had a better year than he did!" And as a New Yorker and wish the Mets well, it should be noted that they have the 5th largest payroll in Major League Baseball.

Not to pick on you, Feathery but to my knowledge the highest salary for Babe Ruth was $80,000. I believe Ted Williams was the first $100,000 per year baseball player.

You're right, Unclebill, it was $80,000 paid to Ruth. Still, he was the highest paid baseball player up to that time:

'Ruth's abilities and personality made him a tremendous drawing card throughout the league and made him the highest-paid player of his era. When informed that the $80,000 dollar salary he received in 1930 was $5,000 more that that of President Hoover, Ruth was reported to have said, "I had a better year than he did." Sportswriter Red Smith always claimed the story had to be apocryphal, because "Ruth was too uninformed about politics." Just as his hitting redefined the game, his salary breakthrough affected others to the point that former teammate Waite Hoyt said, "Every big league player and his wife should teach their children to pray: `God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, and God bless Babe Ruth.' "

Well said. :wiseowl: My grandfather saw Ruth play, and he said every at bat was an event.

well, i tell you. that was a bad day to post because of the incident with cory lidle. now yes, it does prove that the yankees can't do it with a high payroll, but in a 5 game series, anything can happen. anyone can come out on top of the playoffs, and really, they still got it done in the regular season. i don't like the yankees, and never have, but i don't find any reason whatsoever to show the kind of unsportsmanship i saw with how the initial post was written, and that's just horrible. absolutely horrible.

How is the first post horrible? He is attacking the Yankee's organization, not Lidle.

Get a grip and pay attention. I was not, NOT attacking Cory.
I was attacking the Yankee Org that which I have been doing for over 30 years!
If Yankee fans want to hide behind a tragedy instead of inflated contracts and players heads....so be it. My post had NOTHING to do with the accident.

Have some Visene and a drink.

Thank you. That was and is all I was doing and will do for the rest of my existance on this earth.

Alllright, yeah, (we) Mets fans needed to vent a bit, however....

We know his/your *intent really wasn't awful, so
I'll give you this:

lmao.

Yikes.

I still do not understand the yankee hate based on money. NO ONE would complain if their team signed some star player for x amount of money in a bidding war. I mean would i want arod replacing uribe at SS? Yes i would, and i wouldnt mind the sox spendin all their money for him and keepin the core of the team intact. You do what you need to win and you spend what you need to win. Dont be angry at the yank's your particular ballclub doesnt spent the money for talent(unless yer KC, in which you really have no other choice)

You are not a New Yorker. You don't understand what happens there. It is not just the money. I have always said that I wished George Steinbrenner was my owner. It isn't the owners. It is the fans. Because they spend the money they are a good team. The fans throw shit in your face. They are obnoxious people for the most part. They think their shit don't stink because they have got a good team. Like after they were eliminated in 2004 and the Red Sox won it all, they ( the Yankees fans ) tell Sox fans well you only have 20 more to go. Yet most Yankees fans don't know their history and myself being a New Yorker saw Yankees fans of today being Mets fans in the 80's. So unless you have Yankees fans who are in their 40's, 50's or older they are for the most part not real fans. That is the TRUE problem with the Yankees.

Yes but most of the arguments i hear is "Oh, george steinbrenner spends all the money\buys up everyone" and thats the primal complaint

I mean hell, i dispise the cubs but thats because they get media attention they do not deserve and there is nothing proud\honorable about being a failed franchise, and by failed i mean the inability to win
