Perhaps you do love melons.
But in American slang, "melon farmer" is a way of saying "motherfucker" without upsetting small children and spinster aunts who might be around to hear it. :p

When a movie is being show on broadcast TV here, they can't have the character say "motherfucker" so they dub in "melon farmer" because it fits the motion of the lips.
