Clip I've had for years has suddenly lost its audio?

Years ago, I saw a Clips4Sale clip advertised at the top of the page. I clicked on it, and it took me to this small company, I think they had four videos tops. And although I don't usually buy clips without a preview, I took a gamble on this one based on the thumbnail.....and it was great! One of my fave clips ever. I have this clip saved in two places.

The clip has suddenly lost its soundtrack! Both copies that I have of it, on two separate drives! Has this ever happened to anybody? Was this a "thing" that was available to clip makers? To make the audio expire?

Totally confounded.

The worst part? A few days after I had purchased the clip, I wanted to write a review of it. And when I went back, the page was gone, they had taken it down! I have since found the model, who does her own thing now on Pornhub channel, and customs and the like. But she does not offer that clip or anything related to the kink. She had a GREAT laugh.

So just checking, if this is a familiar scenario to someone.

What might have happened is that the player was updated and in the process lost the ability to decode some older audio formats. I've had players lose their ability to play some of my old clips, and had to find out of date players to use for them.

I'll suggest VLC as a clip player. It seems to handle almost everything, new and old formats.

Tried it with different players, different computers....all to no avail. I didn't buy it THAT long ago, I'd say about four or five years ago. Ah well! It's a mystery!

I had tried it with VLC, And then Quicktime, Windows Media, different computers, etc all to no avail. It wasn't that old of a clip! No older than five years tops! Ah well.

Sounds like an encoder failed. Could try using a program like audacity to see if it picks up the audio track. But then you would need something like premiere pro or davinci resolve, Final Cut Pro etc… to get it synced back up with the video. I could give it a try if you want.
