I learned typing when I was younger but now it seems that I can't type naturally anymore. I'm not sure if its because my fingers have become too huge sausages (which they aren't) for today's keyboards or because keyboards now a days are basically just raised bumps on a slab or a window. Every time I try to type naturally i hit "A" when I want to hit "S".. "Caps lock" when I want "shift". I have become one finger Louie lately...grrrr. okay, I'm done.

You musn't blame yourself, this is probably because no two laptops are ever the same, subtle differences in sizes and positioning of keys causes all sorts of complications.

Touch-typing is a skill you should be proud to become fluent in, but it's also such a habitual, pattern-based skill and is therefore easily troubled when 'advances' in keyboard design are inflicted on consumers.

Yes, it has to do with the specific keyboard. I'm now reduced to using a notebook that was given to me (my desktop won't power up), and the keyboard is more condensed than the "full sized" one I'm used to. I find myself backtracking much more now than before. Wonder if they even teach "typing skills" anymore.

Not only have the keys gotten smaller. But there are days when I'll be typing and if I don't press HARD enough as in KILL the keys. I ended up looking at an entire page of missing letters and words. I definitely miss the fatter and bigger keys. It might just be this decent enough but mega cheap computer I picked up at Walmart.

Kill the keys??!! damn girl...lol got mine at Walmart too..hmmm could be a coincidence.

A lot of laptops now have these ridiculously tiny keys. I have pretty small hands and even I'll end up screwing it up sometimes. It really depends on the keyboard you're using.

Just avoid notebooks and other really tiny models if you have big hands.
