In the late 50's, Stan Freberg's work represented my earliest realization that actual comedy genius existed,.. and he sure seemed to have fun with it. He made the satirical "America" recordings,... the Dragnet take-offs,... and is considered the father of the "funny commercial." He died Tuesday. He laid the groundwork for much of what came later in radio and TV, and his influence ranged all over the map, though largely unheralded. RIP, Stan.
