the writer contradicts himself

first he insults the "white" planters wives, and calls the practice an "excreable pasttime", then at the end he says it was a "worthwhile pasttime". well which is it???
sounds like fun to me.
i'd have supprised if the old time royalty, and slave owners hadn't been into tickling! now there's a good reason to be a king!

Why that's just good old revisionist history. I've just never seen it revised so quickly - a matter of a few lines! City folks, always rush, rush, rush......
