Does anyone know if there is a rule against using a swear word as the title of a movie? I was just reading Robert Deniro's profile on IMDB.com, and, according to that site, among Deniro's listed upcoming projects will be a movie called "Another Bullshit Night In Suck City". I have been an avid movie fan for over three decades, and, in all my life, I never recall seeing a swear word like Bullshit as part of the title of a movie.

I think a movie called Kickass is coming out real soon.I do like the title of Mr.Deniro's movie. Must have been filmed in Lancaster. 😛

LOL, zod.

Ass really isn't a swear word. The word "Ass" or "Kickass" has been used on TV for years. In fact, the 70s and 80s TV show Dallas, was the first show on TV to use the words "Bastard", and "Bitch" on their show.

I don't know if there is a "rule" or even a law against it, but I don't see any reason why there should be.

I think it depends on the companies involved. Dustin Hoffman said in an interview that they almost had to change the title of "Meet the Fockers" because Disney (or maybe it was Dreamworks) didn't approve, but they said that if they could find anyone who actually had the surname Focker, they would allow them to use it as the title. I think he said they found an elderly couple in Canada called Focker.

Haha Focker is a pretty common Dutch name, there was even an aircraft company called "Fokker" early on last century (different spelling but same pronunciation). In fact late 1917 to early 1918 was called the "Fokker Scourge" because of how good the planes were; America's entry to the war changed the equation by bringing more industrial might and a different style of fighting that the Germans weren't used to and that's what wrapped it up.

Really though, I imagine it won't be long before we see the rest of the swear words in movie titles. There's no reason to keep assigning the words this mysterious power.

They should've changed the name of "Thanks for Wasting Your Money" cuz my god was that two of the suckiest hours of my life.

Wow, Tick L. I hadn't heard about the movie called Young People Fucking. Yeah, I see your point. If they can put Fucking in the title of a movie, Bullshit seems mild by comparison.
