This is my first post here and I hope I don't annoy anyone with this. I do have some files to share, and I'm constantly looking for more. The thing is that I've read posts about which is best, Aimster, Morpheus, or Kazaa. Let me voice myself on this...
Aimster: Good program. Only problem I have is a C++ Runtime error saying there's an abnormal termination. My other problem is connecting. It takes a while to connect, but downloading isn't a problem. Another thing that concerns me is that the Aimster page I get when it loads says that Aimster is fighting the RIAA. Aimster is also a side program to Napster, which we all know is practically useless now. And I'm betting that soon enough Aimster goes down just like Napster did. Anyone who's having trouble using Aimster: The program name is AimsterUI.exe, and is installed wherever you tell it to. Other programs aren't really used. One of the files I got, Sharer.exe, completely drained my PC's resources from 63% to 4% (with 64MB RAM), so click on your own risk.
Kazaa: According to what I've been told Kazaa shouldn't be used. The main reason is traces of spyware from the program. Someone I know went through his HD and found parts of spyware. For those who don't know what spyware is it's a program(s) that scan your entire HD for files, not just in a specific folder. I would advise that if you use Kazaa, you should be very careful.
Morpheus: This is really the best of the 3. Unlike Kazaa, there's no spyware, even though Morpheus and Kazaa are related programs. And unlike Aimster, it's not being attacked by the RIAA and the government (at least not yet). I would recommend this be the program you use to transfer files. Morpheus and Aimster are the best bets.
I do admit there are a lot more files on Aimster than Morpheus and Kazaa. I do have Aimster (total bitch to figure out), and will currently use it to share. My name on Aimster is mb20_1. But I'll mostly only be on at night. So catch me when you can.
