well, well, well. just when some people thought the Lakers were done forever, here they are in the NBA playoffs. it might be a short stay, but this Laker team has come a long way. there was a lot of doubt about this team (including doubts from Laker fans and even myself), but Kobe Bryant has gotten this team into the playoffs. he definitely deserves MVP, but he wont get it because people do not like Kobe. i have always said this year the key to the Laker success is Kwame "i'm a bust" Brown and Lamar "i love weed" Odom. BOTH of those guys have stepped up since the All Star break and now Kobe has help. a lot of people are still going to disrespect the Lakers, but you have to admit, they are playing really good basketball right now. they have a tough order in Phoenix, but with Kobe, you never know.

as for the rest of the NBA playoffs. the Eastern Conference is a joke. ONLY Detroit is worth anything. The Nets are playing well but they wont get past Detroit in the Eastern Conference Finals. the Heat look ragged. Shaq is NOT the same player he was before and people are starting to see it. Dwyane Wade is the key to the Heat, but that's it. the Heat do not look fluid at all. oh well, Heat, maybe next year.

Cleveland looks exciting, but this is their first year in the playoffs after a long time. Lebron is definitely worth the hype and they should lose in the 2nd round to Detroit. why? Detroit will focus their defense on Lebron, just like they will focus on Wade if they played the Heat. Detroit wins the East this year.

as for the West. it comes down to San Antonio. Dallas? not quite. Phoenix, not quite. Denver? HELL NO. Clippers? in their wildest dreams. Memphis? are you kidding me? Lakers? maybe, but not this year. i would be surprised if they make it to the Western Conference Finals. Sacramento? yeah, right.

so, it should be San Antonio vs Detroit, with Detroit winning in 5 or 6 games. any other opinions?

Why no commentary on the bulls whom have won 8 of their last 9, beating teams such as miami, new jersey, wizards and 76ers. Hell, they have a chance to take 5th place in the conference. Winning titles isnt about the best team, its about what team gets hot at the right time

the Bulls making the playoffs is news, but they play in a weak conference. Detroit is too deep for the Bulls. in the NBA, the best team usually wins as you have to beat another team 4 times.

but, i like your reasoning though. if your scenario is correct about hottest teams, then the Bulls will be playing the Lakers in the finals. i see nothing wrong with that....but this is not the NCAA where a team like George Mason can make the final four. the best teams usually wins series.

People said the same things about the whitesox that cleveland, boston and houston were better teams, but the sox got hot at the right time.

Theres no guarentee they will play detroit the first round because the bulls have a chance to take as high as 5th place. Also, detroit has not manhandled the bulls this season, so you never know, they have a deep enough bench and defense to hold off

Im real excited about my Bullies in post season...but I honestly cannot see them winning a 7 game series. I hope Im worng, but we will see.

I like the Spurs/Pistons prediction...

Thats the great thing about sports, theyre linear, an infinite amount of possibilities can happen in one moment. Last year the bulls faltered cuz they lost deng right at the end of the season. This year i thought they were screwed cuz they lost songaila with a broken foot and he was hittin outside jump shots like nothing. But guys like noc and other big men took a step up and covered. I think theyre gonna surprise more people that fullfill expectations

I think Dallas could end up facing Detroit.

My prediction - Dallas VS Detroit

..with Detroit winning in 6 games.

I wouldn't be suprised if they make it pass the first round, but as much as I like Kobe's game I dont think he can carry them far in the playoffs.

Detroit is deep, since when? They do have the best starting 5 in basketball, but no bench.ONLY Antonio Mc Dyess is decent, and he is a shell of the player he was before he had so many knee surgeries.

The deepest team is my Dallas Mavericks. Before Van Horn got hurt, they had 2 former All-stars coming off the bench.Plus Eric Dampier(he is a complete different player since being taken out of lineup).Marquis Daniels could start for most other teams. Not to mention Devin Harris(as long as he is healthy) and the spartplug Darrell Armstong.I predict it will be the Mavs & Pistons.IT will all depend on the refs.If it is more of shootout them Mavs have the edge,If officials let Pistons play THUG ball, then Pistons win in 5

They had a bench with darko, and he's become a shot blocking beast

as for Detroit's depth, the guys they have off the bench arent exactly all-stars, but they can give decent contributions. the Bulls arent even at .500 yet, so i just cant picture them doing anything against the Pistons. true, anything can happen, but i cant see the Bulls winning 4 games out of 7. unless they dig up Jordan, Pippen and get Phil out of LA.

the Mavericks will do well, they will get to the second round, but they have to face the Spurs who are a deep team. the Mavericks have improved defensively, but let's be realistic, they arent that good defensively compared to the Spurs. i PRAY the Spurs lose, but unless they choke (which they are completely capable of) they should be in the NBA finals.

which leads me to something. how can such a pussy of a guy by the name of Tony Parker, hook up with fine ass Eva Longoria? that still puzzles me. Tony is nothing but a pussy. you hard foul him ONCE, and he is done for the series. look back at those Laker-Spurs playoff series and tell me i'm wrong...

the Lakers are playing really good basketball, but now that there's going to be pressure in the playoffs, i am concerned about Odom, Brown and the rest of the gang. Kobe Bryant laughs at playoff pressure, but he's the only one. i dont expect the Lakers to go far, but they are headed in the right direction.

for me, as long as the Heat do not win it all, i could care less who wins. if it's the Lakers, man, will i ever talk trash. but if it's anyone else but the Heat (and the Clippers too), then i really dont care.

this is going to be a very interesting playoff year....

the biggest misconception about NBA basketball

First let me say this. The SPURS are the reigning champs and such be considered the team to beat.If my Mavs play them in the second round if should be a great series, either team has a chance to win.
The misconception comes when talking about the Spurs defense. They are a VERY GOOD defensive team .One of the best in the league, no doubt about that. But they ARE NOT A GREAT DEFENSIVE TEAM.
There OFFENSE is what holds the other team score down.If Tony Parker can`t intially push the ball for an easy score, the Spurs slow down and milk the shotclock. Most of there shots are taken with less than 5 to 6 seconds left on the shotclock.Look at the stats on this and it proves my theory. The Spurs have 10 to 12 less shorts taken on them in most games than the league average.Less shots means a lower score and BORING BASKETBALL. It works for them but there defense gets all the credit when really The offense keeps the game in the 80`s.

That was why last years finals WERE SO DAMN BORING , unless you were a Spurs or Pistons fan.Who wants to watch the finals when both teams STRUGGLE to score in the 70`S ???

you know, when the Lakers lost game 6 in LA, i felt it in my gut they were going to lose game 7. that's why i took the game 6 loss hard. a lot of Laker fans took it hard. i hate Tim Thomas. i hate Raja "clothesline" Bell. damn Phoenix Suns...

game 7 pressure is beyond reasoning. i knew if the Lakers played a game 7, they were going to be in serious trouble. only Kobe Bryant, Devean George and Phil Jackson experienced a game 7 type pressure, so they werent a concern. it was Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown and the rest of the guys i was concerned about. the pressure got to them and like the score showed, they were completely outclassed. i still hate the Suns...

the Lakers are headed in the right direction. they showed their potential, but they need to make sure they keep going that way. Kobe showed why he should have been the MVP and Phil Jackson showed that he can actually coach. after all, he actually got Kwame Brown to play hard. Michael Jordan couldnt get Kwame to play hard, but Phil did. Phil is a genius and it wont be too long before he slips ring #10 on his finger.

it pains me to say it, but go Clippers. bitch players like Raja Bell deserve to fail....

Hey Prime, looks to me Kobe quit in game 7. Not hardly MVP material, huh? Or maybe he saw the writing on the wall, and realized his team choked a 3-1 series lead.

At least Shaq would've played his heart out, at least he wouldn't quit. Your boy did. You have nothing else to say. You actually can't even defend this pompous, arrogant goof. Find another hero, or become a Clippers fan 😛

I predict the lakers will be back strong next year. Expect a few moves to be made, and a few players to be brought in. Least, I think so. Hope so.

It does get old though, the Kobe hating...

first of all Natural, Kobe didnt quit, his teammates did. trust me, a lot of Laker fans knew the series was over when the Lakers lost game 6, including me. Kobe knows how to play a game 7. Phil Jackson knows how to coach a game 7. Devean George knows how to play in a game 7. the rest of the Lakers? no clue. that is why i knew they would fail.

as for Kobe's "play" in the second half. for crying out loud people, what the hell do you want out of Kobe? if he doesnt shoot much, people call him a quitter or doing it on purpose. if he shoots a lot, he's a ballhog. what do you want the man to do? Kobe Bryant is the best player in the NBA. this Laker team was filled with a bunch of rejects, yet they still brought Phoenix to the brink of elimination. Phil Jackson actually got good play out of Kwame Brown, which means Phil should get an award.

all of you haters will one day eat your stupid words when Kobe holds up the NBA title at a parade in Los Angeles, celebrating the Lakers' 15th world championship. mark my words....

hey Gremio, where did you get the Kobe banner in your sig? i would love to include it in mine...

thanks man! yeah, if you can host it, that would be great. i LOVE the one that has "Me against the World" in it. thanks. can you PM me the link?

sooner or later, people are going to realize just how special a player Kobe really is and this hatred for him is just plain stupid.

sent ya a pm =P

So, what do you guys think of the 2nd round so far? I think the clippers can beat the suns...

I PRAY the Mavs beat the spurs...

I knew it was over when they lost game 6 too, but I thought the Lakers would have given a better effort

Let's see now, only one point, and three shots attempted in the 2nd half??? hmm, sounds like disappearing to me. And to think they try to compare this imbecil to Jordan?? You think Mike would've attempted only 3 shots in a game 7?? and in his early years, Mike had a worse team than Kobe's current. No way Mike would've only scored one point, or tanked it in. He would've fought to the end

Kobe holding up a trophy??? The Clippers will win one before the Lakers win another :blaugh:

now i know you are crazy. the Clippers holding a trophy before the Lakers? ahahahaha...that was pretty funny.

you know, why do people compare Kobe to Jordan. i noticed Laker fans DO NOT COMPARE Kobe to Michael. it is the Kobe HATERS who keep bringing up Jordan when Kobe is being discussed. the Laker fans DO NOT want Jordan. we want Kobe. plain and simple. Jordan has his own damn legacy. kudos for him. Kobe is his own man.

you know, i think that is why people hate Kobe. it is a case of Jordan-itis. face facts folks, Jordan is a damn hero for millions if not billions around the world. because Kobe's style of basketball is so similar to Jordan's, people automatically hate Kobe because they do not want their "hero" to get replaced in the minds of people across the world. why else would people hate Kobe? because everytime Kobe is discussed, Jordan's name has to be mentioned. who gives a damn about Jordan? he is not playing anymore. the Bulls fans can rest easy as Kobe is and never will be Jordan. he is KOBE BRYANT. had Kobe Bryant played like a Shaq, or a Larry Bird, or even Magic Johnson, he would never be criticized as much as he is now. but because his skills is similar to Jordan, people automatically compare them. STOP. you have never heard me compare Kobe to Jordan. i let Kobe's skills speak for him, not MJ.

by the way Gremio, thanks for the signature. i LOVE it.....

np, this siggy looks good on ya mate. =P

I like how passionate you are about your team. Thats something that is sorely missing in sport in north america.

What is there to compare? One is a champion, a winner, a man who can lead others to greatness and knows how to balance his scoring to compensate for the play, or non-play of his teammates. A man who can score 60+ when he has to, or simply score 20 if that's what it takes to win the game. There is NO comparison of Jordan and 1-800-call my lawyer, er Kobe. So please people, don't disgrace Jordan any further.

The other guy spends his money on high priced lawyers to stay out of jail, or even worse spends his time away from his wife with women who make up fairy tales about guys who want to rape her and he wants to be the highest paid player on the Lakers when Shaq played for them (yet when Shaq wants more money he's arrogant and cares only about money). Mr come to camp in shape, I can hit a free throw, blows a 3-1 series lead and vanishes in a game 7. (By the way, the 'other guy' who didn't do any of this and is over-rated, out of shape and can't hit a free throw is playing in the NBA Finals. Is Wade THAT much better than Kobe??

That has to be the funniest, laugh out loud statement you have ever made PT.
