Negro League Great Buck O'Neil Dies

A VERY sad day. It is terrible that he is not already in the Hall of Fame. You get the feeling, he will be placed in Hall of Fame. That would be a tragedy that he was placed in after he dies. :cry1:

Unfortunately that's the whole idea, which makes the Hall a joke in my eyes. It is a shame that a lot of these baseball greats will never make it until they die, because the selection process is flawed, very flawed

My condolences to the family, he was a great man, indeed

I envy those who had the privledge of sitting down with Buck O`Neal and talking baseball. What a great human being. He lived to be almost 95 years old, but it would have been nice to hear his voice another few years. May he rest in peace. :dropatear

Buck was a model of what we all should strive to be in life.I live in the K.C. area but never got a chance to meet him i am sorry to say.But baseball fan or not,Buck was an ambassador for the game of life, and we would all do well to profit from the way he lived his life.R.I.P. Buck.

What a great interview, too. He was fantastic as a guest of Jim Rome's shows on the radio and TV. ESPN Classic has some great clips of him as well. I could listen to Mr. O'Neil talk baseball all day. RIP Sir.
