I rode behind locomotive 611 in Roanoke, Virginia.

Locomotive 611 is a large locomotive that has four large driving wheels on each side. It was built for passenger service and now used for excursions in the Virginia area.
The trip that I took the other weekend ran from Roanoke to Lynchburg, Virginia.

Last Saturday I traveled to The Walkersville Southern Railroad to ride behind a restored steam locomotive. A father and son have an unusual hobby of buying rusty and broken down steam locomotives then repairing them and taking them around the countryside to tourist railroads and giving rides. Recently I took an Autumn Leaf Excursion from Spencer, North Carolina down to Toccoa, Georgia. It was an all day trip,and I visited a scenic waterfall on a college campus while I was there.
