Cm Punk breaks record

Thanks to Mike V. for the following:

So after C.M. Punk won the title tonight, I did some research. Punk became a triple crown champion (World, Tag Team, Intercontinental) faster than anyone else in the company. From his first title reign (June 30, 2008) to tonight (January 19, 2009), it has been 203 days. The only person close to that was Kevin Nash who became a triple crown champion in 227 days. Don't know if this means anything in the long run, but it is interesting to see Vince solidify him in history like this.

In this day and age, title reigns mean little

They jump titles so frequently, the belts are really worthless

Very true goodie...bad in the day belts were actually a big deal (im talking 80's and older)..these days belts fly around..appear and disappear..whole divisions dissolves and come back with nonsense wrestlers..so basically belts mean ZERO as far as importance...it's just a matter of whose turn is it to be a champion.........really sad

Do you think that Vince was aware of Punk becoming the fastest triple crown champion or was this merely a coincidence? Like Goodie stated, what significance is this if titles change hands so frequently?

jesus, the way lord steven regeal suplexed him, im glad a record is all he broke. Looked like a botched dragon suplex.

Basically, i can say, in the wwe, titles dont mean jake shit. Wrestlers exchange titles as much as divas change hair styles. Wasnt hornswaggle a ic title holder? Todays wwe is not geared towards the true wrestling fan, its for that wrestling fans son or daughter.

Actually, Hornswoggle was cruiserweight champ.

The IC title was discredited by Santino "I'm far superior because I'm Italian" Marella (who jobbed clean versus Beth Phoenix before he won that belt).

I think it was merely coincidence. Back when Punk lost the title, he and Kofi Kingston won the tag titles because a face team was wanted. They both got cheers seperately, so the E just put them together and placed the titles on them.
Eventually, Punk and Kingston lost the tag belts due to the E wanting Punk freed up for the IC tournament. I figured then that the E must have had plans for him beating Regal for the IC title.
I think it was all just coincidence, nothing planned. If it were planned, I'm sure they would have been hyping it up or at least pointed it out.
