What always impressed me about Ray that a lot of people weren't aware, is that along with keyboards, Ray carried the band's bass responsibilities as well. He used those old bass foot pedals like you see on the old Conn Organs. You want to talk about multitasking, playing bass lines while simultaneously knocking out chords and melodies on the keys is no small feat. But he did it like a pro.

Ray will go down in history with Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman as one of Classic Rock's greatest keyboardists.

RIP Ray.

Yeah, that innovation on the keyboard that you talked about, him carrying the bass-lines, and just his musical genius as a whole, blows my mind whenever I listen to Doors albums. Truly a legend who's impact will be remembered in the music world forever. RIP Ray, and thanks for the music.

Yet another legend...gone. R.I.P. Ray. :(

Lotsa organists out there, some quite excellent. But only one Ray Manzarek.

Rock in peace, Ray.

Jim Morrison was the face and the soul of the Doors, but Ray was the SOUND.

One of my musical heros. I honestly don't think it's an exaggeration to say I wouldn't be the person I am today without the doors' music. Rip and thanks Ray x
