I am a big fan of vinyl and the unique sound and feel it gives to music, provided that music was created in the pre-CD era. Artists recording songs in lesser sound quality just to charge you double for a gigantic product that you can't skip, fast forward, or rewind easily seems gimmicky and a little bit hipster to me.

My collection is small, so far, but I've got some gems. Off the top of my head:

1. Michael Jackson - "Thriller" (1982)
2. Beatles - "Help" (1965)
3. Frank Sinatra - "My Way" (1969)
4. Ray Charles - "The Ray Charles Story" (1962)

as well as a handful of post-Beatles Paul McCartney and Wings albums and a couple under-the-radar Dylan albums that I can't think of at the moment.

I just recently picked up the latest batch of Led Zeppelin remasters on vinyl and they sound great! Unfortunately between everything else music related I have I don't have the funds for a high end record player to enjoy the vinyl I have to its fullest extent so for me I usually rock out with a decent pair of headphones and lossless digital recordings. But one day I shall take the plunge because vinyl does have a unique soundscape to it that gives for a unique listening experience. There is something about the aesthetic of physically "pushing" the sound into the air from the piece of vinyl that is very cool

Great topic!

Some of my earliest memories involve time with my Grandad playing vinyl from his collection, which was folk/easy listening artists such as The Spinners (legendary Liverpool folk group) and Roger Whittaker - I loved the music, the way it sounded clear and live, but also the contraption used to play them, I would watch the records spin round.
In a nice little 'full circle' of music and technology, I have recently re-discovered these artists through Spotify!

I would love to be able to afford to build a proper vinyl collection as I'm a sucker for anything old/vintage/old fashioned etc, but I have too many other hobbies for me to do so at the moment.

I do have a few that I've acquired over the past few years, although at the moment I have nothing suitable to play them on, which is partly why I can't justify buying vinyl regularly.

I have:

The Mock Turtles - Turtle Soup
Barclay James Harvest - Time Honoured Ghosts (I actually bought this for the sleeve artwork, but the music is good so I bought another record by this band. The band's story is tragic)
Barclay James Harvest - Octoberon
Boney M - Oceans of Fantasy
Andre Previn - Music from Lerner and Loewe's Camelot
Tammy Wynette - Stand by Your Man
King of the Slums - Dandelions
Undercurrent - Bill Evans & Jim Hall
John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John - Original Grease Soundtrack
Inspiral Carpets - Life
Inspiral Carpets - The Peel Sessions
Sinead O'Connor - The Emperors New Clothes
The Ruts - Grin and Bear it
All About Eve - All about Eve
Ancient Beatbox - Ancient Beatbox
Into Paradise - Change

Your list is extensive and varied, there's so much good stuff on there and there's also many artists that are new to me so I'll check them out, but I would like to give a mention to some of the artists on your list that are perhaps lesser-known that I love, so It's great to see the following on your list:

The Naked and Famous
Chvrches
The Postal Service
M83
Cocteau Twins
Tame Impala

When my father passed, he left all of his record collection to my siblings and me. When were kids we used to play folk records almost every Saturday night, and he would sometimes bring his guitar out and play some of our favorites from the records we listened to. I do not listen to them often anymore, but when I do it reminds me of North Carolina tobacco farms and the smell of my dad's favorite cigars. Good times

I'm a vinyl freak since a time I can't remember. I have about 800 LPs or so. Mostly rock music, but also some classical, soundtrack and spoken word, plus a bit of Jazz. Anyone want to chat about it is very welcome !

Got rid of my vinyl 20-some yrs ago, mainly because others in the family wouldn't let me play the danged things - it was better that someone own them that would be able to enjoy them (or use them as frisbess...). Wish I still had the blasted things now.

I'm mainly into lossless digital or CDs. But I'm not throwing away my turntable anytime soon!

Recent vinyl acquisitions:

Ken Nordine - Word Jazz (a little scratchy, but fun!)
Leo Kottke - Leo Kottke (Chrysalis Records)
The 78 Project, volume 1
Chokers & Flies - old-time music album with 2 regional bands

I have a big vinyl collection but some favorite are
Freak Out----Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention
Wired--- Jeff Beck
Close to the Edge---Yes
Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out--- The Rolling Stones
Soundtrack "Apocalypse Now"---The Rhythm Devils
Soundtrack "Risky Business" (side 2 is entirely by Tangerine Dream).
Cry Of Love---Jimi Hendrix
Sailing Shoes---Little Feat
Live Rust---Neil Young
Montrose---Montrose
Fastway---Fastway
Through The Past Darkly---The Rolling Stones
Grand Funk's Greatist Hits---Grand Funk
Masters of Reality---Black Sabbath
