We have the nice long black & white mainstream thread which you can check out by clicking here........so this thread is for the great vintage COLOR clips.

First scene:

Sophia Loren, pretending to be hurt, says it "tickles" when the guy she likes is "examining" her body. From "Breath Of A Scandal", and an upgrade from the old clip that floats around (which came, actually, from my videotape!)

Major DVD-quality upgrades of the classic "North To Alaska" scene...and "The Pink Panther".....two mainstream scenes with the gorgeous Capucine. Don't think I've ever seen them clearer than this.

Not only that....the trailer for "North To Alaska" has a different shot/take of the same scene! So here they all are in one big happy heap. (both scenes in mp4 and wmv....the trailer, however, is only mp4. I'm sure you could find it on You Tube though)

Two clips from musicals....."The Pajama Game" and "Guys and Dolls".

"Guys and Dolls" doesn't have a tickling scene in it, but.....I have always loved this lyric: "...who do you think he's tickling pink on Saturday night?" (three guys - including Sinatra - walking around and bemoaning all the things guys put up with from "dolls"). To me that lyric - like many of these early mainstream scenes - shows that tickling was way more associated with "sexiness" than it's been since they started putting open sex and nudity in movies! How many times in an old movie do they signify something "naughty" by having girlish laughter coming from offscreen. (I'll be posting such a scene shortly).

Natalie Wood seems to be tickled by Warren Beatty in "Splendor in the Grass"

Speaking of musicals, she ALMOST gets tickled in "West Side Story" (so nothing, almost not worth telling you about it....slow-mo helps you see it)

and then in her last movie, "Brainstorm", Christopher Walken raspberries her on her neck (just to keep all the Natalie Wood in one place....;)

Ok, this has taken me almost two decades to locate but finally found it. It was at the very bottom of the old Max Speer mainstream list. It's a French film, and I only have it with Spanish subtitles....

Using Max's old list (which I recently found on my computer)....here's what the dialogue roughly is (spanish-speaking folk could probably do a better translation)

Clip one: Laughter is heard offstage and the director wants to know what's going on. A ballerina comes out and says "It's him, he makes tickles on me"...the director calls the man and scolds him.

Clip two: The same ballerina faints....and a woman barks at the others: "Well, what are you waiting for? Tickle her! For waking her up!"

Clip three: Now the ballerina is being revived by tickling. There is some tickling dialogue after this which was not in Max's translation, maybe someone else can tell us what they're saying at the end.

Here are the clips.....both the original French version.....and then the dubbed Spanish track, so you get to hear two different laughs.

The North To Alaska scene was one of my favorites of all time, ever since I saw it in a cinema in 1960 as a child. :feets:
I never saw the trailer version before.
Thanks for providing both here! :D

And another one, how could I forget, an upgrade of Dorothy Dandridge reacting ticklishly to Harry Belafonte's leg kisses. (mp4 only)

and Janet Leigh gets movie-tickled in "Houdini" (wmv only)

and a repost of Marilyn Monroe telling Lawrence Olivier "it tickles". (wmv only)

That's it for now.

So cool. Not trying to make you feel old (well, maybe I am, a rare opportunity for me these days to claim the advantage of comparative youth), I wasn't even born yet in 1960 and caught this only in the mid 1980s on a local TV station that had little better to show than old movies. Of course, high-tech pioneer that I was, I readied my trusty VCR for the next time it would be shown, which back at that time was totally dependent on the whims of the station managers and the burgeoning cable industry, which meant one would usually have to wait years for a repeat showing. So I dutifully perused every issue of TV Guide, and eventually that scene got added to my treasured porn mix tape, even before I knew to call it that.

I never saw the trailer version before.

I actually saw the trailer first, very early in my life, must have been a promo on TV, yet it stuck with me throughout the rest of my childhood and adolescence and became a little consuming obsession. And I guess because I'd seen it so young it was transformed in my memory into a scene where Capucine pummels Stewart Granger's back with her fists after he starts tickling her foot (and not having a wide grasp of the stock of TV/movie cowboys at that tender age, I somehow fixed on the idea that the 'ler was John Wayne).

Then four decades later by the magic of YouTube I discovered the trailer in full, and was quickly disabused of the false recall of the pounding since Capucine gets only as far as raising her arm as if to strike Granger before the fadeout. But it marked the birth of a new idée fixe as I am now completely enraptured by that take's views of Capucine's clearly unfaked thrashing and squirming.

Ned, thanks for such vivid remembrance of what it used to be like! You really bring memories about scrutinizing the TV guide (and the cable guide) EVERY WEEK. And if something was on? I'd play hooky, stay up till 3 in the morning, whatever it took.

Also....how memory can play tricks on you with a scene you've only seen once!

Quite welcome, T.I. And yes, I did some of that 3 a.m. skulking too until I learned how to program my newfangled VCR, which seemed a whole lot easier to do when they first came out.

whatever it took.

Absolutely, and lest some of the whippersnappers here get the impression that the '80s truly were a dark, technologically deprived age, there were at least some corner video rental stores around before they were run out of business by the likes of Blockbuster (and I hope a lot of those moms and pops are still alive to revel in the delicious irony of that behemoth's fate). But they rarely had rarer movies like North to Alaska, and even if they did I didn't dare chance an interaction with a Chatty Cathy cashier (not all stores were staffed by Silent Bobs) that might go something like this:

cashier: Oh, I've never heard of this movie. What made you want to see it?
me: (in a sedatives-induced spasm of pure transparency) Well, I really get off on tickling women's feet, and there's a scene in this film like that, so I'm just going to take it home and pleasure myself* to it. Now, could I just leave? And sure, I'll take a bag--will come in "handy." [tee hee]

Also....how memory can play tricks on you with a scene you've only seen once!

Yes, one of the many mysteries of memory and the mind (just like why some people have a thing about alliteration). I've heard they're starting to take that more into consideration in evaluating eyewitness testimony, and it leaves me with even less faith in humanity than ever before.

[EDIT 4/15/2022]
Here is the mother of all tickle-talk mainstream scenes. Suzanne Pleshette gets a long lecture about why she's ticklish from Troy Donahue in the 1962 movie "Roman Adventure". This long, sensual, romantic scene contains some super sexy acting from Pleshette, and some typically himbo acting from Donahue! The sexual tension is amazing....and it's like a two minute scene. I would have DIED had I seen this in a movie theater or with other people in the room. If you like tickletalk, I can't think of a better clip. Pleshette says all (or nearly all) iterations of the word: tickle and represents the anticipation of being tickled excruciatingly well. And HOT. He does a lot of tickle talk as well.

Hopefully we'll get a better quality clip of this scene one day.
