Nvda stock dropped to around 120 late last year...and now is close to 400. Wish I had bought it then.

Missed investment opportunities are all around us all the time. No need to regret them.

While I don't give investment advice to anybody*, situations like that are why "stop/sell" orders were invented.
*Just once, in 1977, when a then colleague in the math department had asked all present for investment advice, I broke this rule and spoke up. My advice, two years later, could be seen to be correct; indeed, it was fabulous advice and well-timed. However, on the day that I gave it, I got nothing but derision and mockery for it.

Very well said...but I also know people who lost 80% of their stock value, held it and a year or 2 later made the 80% back plus $ on top.
Stock market is unpredictable...legalized gambling.

Yes, legalized gambling. I had a friend in high school who became a registered representative for a brokerage firm. (That is the person who actually talks to people on the telephone or in the office and executes their orders to buy or sell stocks.) He told me he loved his job, "because I'm working in the biggest legal casino in the world, the NY Stock Exchange."

That's interesting yeah I can see that...the thing I learned was don't put money into the stock marked that you need (i.e. rent money).

Wise advice.
My friend had another saying about the NYSE: "Bull can make money and bears can make money, but the pigs always get stuck."
I knew that bulls were optimists who expected a stock to go up and bought it. I knew that bears were pessimists who expected a stock to go down and sold it short. I had to ask him what pigs were.
He said, "People to expect to buy at the all-time low and sell at the all-time high."

Another saying similar to what you're saying is my uncle taught me "Pig get slaughtered." And I'd say "oink."

Yelling get off my lawn!
But also when I see high school girls I cringe...some of them look like they're in their 20s. When I was in school kids looked like kids. I'm glad I don't have a daughter I probably wouldn't let her leave the house.
