So...i recently bought a graphic tablet and wanted to start drawing the characters from my stories

http://www.ticklingforum.com/showthread.php?325408-Ja%92Lana-return-of-the-Brotherhood-F-F
http://www.ticklingforum.com/showth...-uromancer-s-lair-part-1-F-F-FF-F-watersports
problem is, despite them being clearly pictured in my head, my hand won't cooperate and i end up with a mangled mess as a result...
how do i draw? XD should i trace something to get the hand of things? should i check references?
thanks to whoever can help me :D

The best thing to do is if you're starting out is to just draw every day even if it's for a few minutes, and it doesn't have to be perfect or finished just a simple sketch of what idea you have will do. The hardest part of drawing is getting motivated to draw (trust me, I know from experience) so find something to help motivate you to draw like comics, animé, music, ECT. As for references just look up images of models doing different poses to help you get a firm grasp on proportion. Hope this help.

thanks for the advice :D i'll try to draw more and, so far, i think i have found a way to do it a bit better. i'm using inkscape to draw a rough shape of what the character will be because i can do more symmetrical stuff with it but drawing "free hand" is worse, then i open that picture with gimp and use that to draw OVER it :D
