Nah, he doesn't get gender swapped in the cartoon. He (despite the marketing making the show look like it stars He-Man)gets killed off pretty quickly.

Because apparently, Kevin Smith didn't think advertising a show about Teela - who has one of the most interesting backstories in the franchise (daughter of Sorceress, destined to be next Sorceress of Grayskull) - would work.
