OnlyFans to Bar Sexually Explicit Videos Starting in October


Starting in October, the company will prohibit creators from posting material with sexually explicit conduct on its website, which many sex workers use to sell fans explicit content. They’ll still be allowed to put up nude photos and videos, provided they’re consistent with OnlyFans’ policy, the company said Thursday.

Seems to be a similar story like Pornhub last year. (lack of moderation, payment partners under pressure, platform cleansing)
 
It seems that a lot of these platforms such as OnlyFans, YouTube, PayPal, build their customer base using the adult entertainment industry, and then drop it like a hot brick once they have reached a certain market share.
 
From what I read it’s for there iOS app the web browser only fans will remain the same as iOS store doesn’t allow adult content

we all know how well these companies enforce their own rules. this is just lip service to investors. you can still find content on youtube that are obvious violations. this content can go months without age restrictions, because yt seems to rely mostly on user moderation. behind a paywall, users won't report anything unless the "sex worker" pisses them off.
 
It's possible the descriptions people use for their own clips might make a difference.

I could easily imagine a scenario where a site calling itself "Tickle fetish videos" would get banned, while the description "Fun with tickling" -- with the same clips -- might get left alone.
 
I don't have an opinion as I never used it honestly. I don't pay for adult entertainment and from what I could tell none of the content was free on there. I'm also gay and the majority of it was marketed towards straight males as well.
 
I would be hard pressed to think that there are not new sites/ business models in development as we speak to capture the sales.
 
We're far from seeing the end of it I think, restrictions and scrutiny will continue and tighten.

If there is a lesson, it's that people should not rely on a single platform
