Haha, yes indeed :D About Louisiana, back then it was not simply the current State of Louisiana, but it encompassed a much much larger territory that included a significant part of the Midwest. Thus, the Purchase allowed the US to basically double its size overnight. And for a dirt-cheap price, as Napoleon made the huge mistake to assume such a generous gesture would be enough to secure American support in his wars. Sadly for the world, the American side did not see it this way, hence my previous comment about 1803.

He was more interested in expanding his empire in Europe though and I feel like it would be a big undertaking to send horses, garrisons, physicians, supplies etc overseas and keep tabs on them. So, in this way, we did him a favor taking it off his hands so he could save money and resources to be used closer to home
