Quentin Tarantino directs a movie.

As with all of his movies, his foot fetish presents itself; in the most prolonged, authentic, foot tickling interrogation ever put on cinema. You watch it and you say “My God! That’s what real tickling as torture must look like.

Like in the Tarantino-esque uncomfortably long and detailed fashion.

The Actress is Lucy Liu. You really think that she’s authentically being tickle tortured.

Consensus oh this forum is that the scene is hands down, The Greatest Mainstream Clip Ever.

Several months pass, shes asked about this intense scene on Twitter. She admits that she was truly acting, and that in all reality, she has never been ticklish.

Was it still a good ticking scene?
Is it acceptable because it was produced by Hollywood?
Is authenticity of ticklish reaction the only metric on which the quality of a scene is judged?

If it was a scene in a mainstream movie, then it would typically be made up of multiple takes, some that may have been shot much later. The dialogue (including laughter) would likely be recorded afterwards too, if it was a little messy or unclear. This is the case for any major movie. It doesn't mean that the actor isn't getting tickled or reacting naturally at times, but their reactions are going to be embellished to make the scene work. You could say the same thing about sex scenes in movies - are they still hot even though they are staged?

In a Quentin Tarantino movie, I'm not paying to see a tickle scene, I'm paying to watch the movie. The tickling being fake or real is irrelevant. When I'm buying tickle porn, especially when the producer is advertising that this woman is "extremely ticklish", and I purchase the clip, and she's as ticklish as a toster, then that's a problem. Why would I want to spend money and watch and non-ticklish person being tickled? That defeats the whole reason to watch tickle porn to begin with.

I love how we all assume the tickling, such as it is, is going to be "real" in the first place. Fight scenes are staged, emotions are staged, stunts are staged, but the tickling's gonna be real because THAT'S HOW I WANT IT TO BE DAMMIT

You (general you, not you, turtleboy) seriously think even a ticklish actress is going to tolerate being tortured over twenty or thirty takes just because your pp would love to imagine that? That's not how movies work.

anyone 'member "that scene" from The Purge? Once out of curiosity I slowed it down, zoomed in, and went frame-by-frame. In the bulk of the "tickling" the antagonist's hands aren't even touching the victim. They just hid it really well. sorry.

In Frederick Forsyth's 'The Odessa File', the forger of wanted SS men's fake passports' philosophy is that it doesn't matter if a document is genuine. It doesn't matter who printed it or how was printed- if it works for the purpose intended, it is a good document. Same with a filmed or staged tickling scene. If the viewer believes it, what went into creating it is immaterial.
