In the early 90s I was seeing a delightful woman who was a somewhat prettier/shapelier version of the brunette in that video. A student of English literature, she used to dance in a Toronto strip club to fund her MA. And last year, passing through that city some three decades later, I rang her up and we had a chaste tea and a catchup in a coffee shop, both of us nostalgic for the old days, both of us faded and smiling sadly.
Jenny Kiss’d Me
Jenny kiss’d me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I’m weary, say I’m sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss’d me,
Say I’m growing old, but add,
Jenny kiss’d me.
