Antivirus Question

I have a question about Antivirus that I would appreciate advice with.

This computer is a bit over two years old. I bought it as a certified pre owned in June 2020, and since then had the "Motherboard" and I believe another piece replaced either due to hardware failure or a virus I dont remember.

Anyhow!

I have Avast Antivirus on this computer. I also had Macafee installed.

I just got a notice that says the Macafee is about to expire soon.

My question is : Should I renew the Macafee and have two separate antivirus programs on my computer, or is the Avast enough?

Any advice would be appreciated

My opinion is that you should only have one antivirus running. Who knows if two of them might have an argument about something in their respective codes. I've only ever run one myself, haven't had any problems (I never said that.....nobody better be listening...).

Either when I set up this computer at first in 2020, or fixed it with a friend.

I believe I might have had the MacAfee first, and then when that expired probably last year, downloaded the Avast, unless it was the other way around, I dont remember.

I will just keep the Avast running for now

I think one antivirus is right... two can interfere with one another. I think stay in with a vast is good it's free and I never liked McAfee. Pc magic is a new company I hear is good

My PC people say to use one a/v. They will eventually start battling over the resources to run them, making operation slow or stalling them out. That's not to say you can't have a couple installed for scans, just not running simultaneously.
