Latest Howard Stern Tickling Mention 1/11

According to the synopsis of the Howard Stern Show available online, tickling came up again today and they repeated that Amber Smith will be tied up when they go to Vegas and a listener will play Blackjack for the right to tickle her.

One More Thing Worth Noting

In the past three tickling events on Howard's show (Pam, Carmen, Brande), the tickling was unannounced. He clearly had it in mind in advance, but he never telegraphed the tickling with any promotional efforts or even with mentions on his show.

Now, for the first time, the audience is being alerted to a tickling event in advance with multiple mentions well in advance. I contend that this is a significant step for tickling. We've always had to graze in the mass media before and hope to happen upon tickling material. Now, someone (Howard, his staff, some media consultant) has looked at some chart full of numbers and calculated that you might be able to boost audience numbers by using tickling as a promotional gimmick.

This is a positive step. Along with the Playboy coverage of MTP, it's a great step. Playboy teases non-paid subscribers with the promise of tickling to get them to buy. Now, Howard teases us with the promise of tickling to get us to listen.

What this means is that decision-makers in different places have come to the simultaneous conclusion that there may be enough of US to care about. They've elevated us from a scattering of weirdos to the level of "potential audience segment with money".

Let's hope that enough of us show up to elevate us to the rank of legitimate audience segment (with money, of course). If that happens, we won't need a cadre of spotters looking for mainstream tickling. The powers that be will start making sure we know where the tickling is because they will know they can count on our attention if they do.

Lets just hope it all turns out the way we want it to
