Do people EVER grow up?

Yeah so, a buddy of mine on this here forum was telling me a story about an ex-girlfriend who uses Fetish forums to bash him.

I think its pathetic and childish. If you have an issue with an ex, why be a computer tough guy? Deal with it like an adult or hey, maybe you could just move on with your pathetic life!

Is it just me who thinks this way? Am I the only one who thinks that its mentally unhealthy to hide behind your monitor and verbally bash someone?

Will "adults" ever grow up?

I'm with you, Tulip. It's like the people who bash their ex to everybody except the ex. Whatever problems one has with one's ex ought to remain between the one and the ex. To me, that would seem to be the only mature way to handle it.

i so agree...with drew..i do so hate people who air their dirty laundry for the world to see..however there are usually two sides to a story..but even so, bashing someone publicly is so childish and high schoolish..

now in a good way...do we ever grow up? i hope not..lol..

I don't know. To an extent it is childish, but I can understand why people do it.

My ex boyfriend cheated on me. And not only cheated on me but had an entire relationship with another person on the side.

When he dumped the other girl she emailed me all their IMs.

I was so pissed that I posted the conversations all over his myspace for his friends to read, all over my myspace for my friends to read, facebook, and so on.

After a few hours of that, I realize how stupid I was being and deleted all of them.

I chalk it up to temporary insanity.

Now, seriously, I dislike that kind of behaviour.
I mean, exposing people's foibles when we feel cheated is not the wisest course of action.
First of all, if he/she/it was just a despicable individual, you won't look any better from showing the kind of attachment you had developed.
Second, more important, it opens the way to boundless retaliation.

Which means somebody else on the planet will know everything about you, your family, that nice skull tattoo behind your know what, and that gross hairy mole right beside that other tactical spot.

...

Then again, 'net too has its quota of loons and pretenders...
At least they are less likely to come up close and personal, and gut you with a bare bodkin when you break up and things grow sour.

In a conversation I had recently, a person likened internet communities to high schools. I think that gives them too much credit. I'd say middle school, tops.

Sure, there are a few outstanding students... Some college-bound, maybe some docs and very rarely, post-docs. But the bulk of it is the same B.S. you saw in middle school.

He had the audacity to have not just a partial, but an ENTIRE relationship with another person on the side? Flowers, phone calls, and they even did [god forbid] TEXT MESSAGING as well? That creep! I bet that loser even went over on his minutes for her! The nerve of some men!

Anyways, I know I have not grown up yet 😛

If, as the thesis goes, the internet is a more or less microcosmic sample of Life In General, magnifying the downside, I'm convinced that MOST people will, never, ever grow up. The net's a wonderful opportunity for people to revert to childhood, or never advance from it.

The more observant, of course, would watch from the sidelines, and agree.

I likie how some grown ups, I mean those over 21, still act the way kids do when they are insulted.
You know at work, when the boss says the team/company is not working hard enough [in so many words] And people walk around whining "Oh I guess we are all just lazy... I have been busting my ass...

Kids say - Oh yeah well I will get my dad after you! Well my dad can kick your dad's ass...
Adults say - "You will be hearing from my attorney!"

Kids say - "How come he always gets to be at the front of the line, it isn't fair!"
Adults - "How come he got the promotion over me? It isn't fair..."

Kids are jealous cause Billy got that new neat bike/video game console.
Adults try to keep up with the Joneses.

Kids are jealous cause someone is dating a cheerleader/MVP quarterback.
Adults are cause someone is dating a model or doctor.

The words change, the complaints don't. NOPE, no one grows up in this life.
