Well here is your answer...

First published in 1728, the deceivingly simple nursery rhyme "This Little Piggy" exemplifies the struggle among the working classes of 18th century England in the face of the imminent mechanization of their society.

The little piggy who goes to the market represents the rising mercantile class in Europe that are growing at an enormously rapid rate.

The little piggy who stays home represents women who were not permitted to join the social structure of late modern Europe. Moreover, this little piggy typifies the "cottage" industry of stay-at-home workers who flourished in the time before the industrial revolution.

The little piggy with roast beef is obviously a member of the landed gentry who had his own cattle and therefore did not need to "go to the market" so to speak.

The little piggy who had none represents the serfs who were tied to the land, kept perpetually in debt and devoid of any hope of social mobility.

The one who went "weee" all the way home, is King Louis XIV of France who invaded his neighboring countries, but was later shut down at the Peace of Utrecht--those running all the way home.

Very interesting... I figured it would have to be something similar to that as most children's rhymes and tales were designed to teach and not just amuse. The oral tradition is one of the strongest to learn from and goes back to the beginnings of human history. From hand games like "patty cake" to jump rope rhymes, you'll find important lessons riddled through them. The repitition ensured the lessons would be learned and remembered.

Thank you for sharing...

And now when I go to utter that rhyme while tickle torturing a submissive, I imagine I am going to find myself giggling at the history lesson involved!

That poem always used to frighten me when I was little. I was like..."Why are you touching my feet and talking about piggys!"

Oh, that was really interesting stuff to read ^^,
That rhyme is kind of unknown here in Sweden, as expected ;D
Thanks for sharing it!

Always liked that rhyme,& sometimes think of it when I see great looking female feet in public or wherever.
