So I been going to AA meetings for reasons some of you might be aware of...

Last night at my meeting there was a guy there who looked like someone I once met from here and he even had a tattoo that reminds me of something someone from this site would have.....

Anyway, I will not go into detail about him too much since AA is a hush hush kinda thing.....

My question is, Should I ask him if he is from TMF???? Or should I just leave it alone?
 
Certainly interesting! Totally understandable how coming right out and asking could be awkward, especially considering the environment you're in. I wonder if perhaps there's a way you can drop subtle hints to him and see how he reacts. In any case, I wish you the best of luck with both this and the AA.

Thanks doll! Maybe ill sit next to him at the next meeting and slip my show off and rub my own foot and see if he notices..... Hmmmm! LOL
 
You're welcome, Tulip. Honestly, I wish I had something more insightful to advise you with. Obviously, this is an extremely unique situation and one that I'm sure you never expected to pop up. I think your thought on an initial strategy is actually a very good one and may give you a decent read on him. Definitely let us know how it goes.

I'd leave it alone.

It might throw his attempts at recovery and getting the help that he seeks.

It's funny you would say that. That was my initial reaction as well. I suppose it really depends on what Tulip is looking for. If she'd just like to confirm that he's a TMF member without directly asking, that's one thing. If it's for a relationship, that's considered a big no-no for AA.

AA is for Anonymous.

It's bad enough that many folks can't even admit completely HERE that they have a full fledged tickling fetish, trying to confirm something of that magnitude in an ADDICTION CENTRE?

C'mon, now.
 
I suppose "confirm" was the wrong choice in words, as what I meant wouldn't actually lead to any confirmation. I was referring to the taking off the shoe idea she had above to get a read on this individual. Still, the more I think about it, you're making sense. As much as one may be curious, it is an addiction center. I suppose since I've never had to go to one I'm not really thinking about the ground rules that they have.

Because others might need that place more then anyone will ever know.

You could always say hi if you make eye contact, but I agree with Crystal Light it could make an already awkward situation more awkward.




Remember what happened to Marla Singer when she talked to a guy at an AA meeting.

Do you think plopping your feet in someone's lap like that might...I dunno...weird them out? It seems kind of...intimate to me, but maybe I am just weird.

You can't walk up to a perfect stranger and tickle them.

But can you scootch a chair up, kick off your shoes and plop your feet in a total stranger's lap??

hmmmm. food for thought.

I would get to know him a bit better first.

Being at an AA/NA meeting can be nervewracking enough without having something like that from left field come at you. It is supposed to be a safe place after all.

No, in this context, you're right. But if she starts to get to know this person better, eventually this WILL be a great idea.

But to do it with a stranger, well that's just creepy.

Just take it easy.

After all you are attending these meetings to more or less to get a handle on your drinking, and NOT to start a TMF relationship.:idunno:
