Actress Brittany Murphy Dies

So...

She had a few extremely common mental health issues

- Fluoxetine (depression medication)

- Klonopin (anxiety medication)

- Carbamazepine (bipolar medication)

- Ativan (anxiety medication)

She had pain that required medication at some point.

- Hydrocodone (pain medication)

- Vicoprofen (pain reliever)

She has suffered some kind of infection at some point.

- Biaxin (antibiotic)

- Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory medication)

She suffered from seizures OR migraines

- Topamax (anti-seizure medication EDIT: Also used frequently for migraines)

She had heart complications

- Propranolol (used to prevent heart attacks)

The only thing remotely interesting in this list is the heart medication, considering her death was caused my heart-related issues. I fail to see how anything else is relevant outside of speculation and the fact that if you put all those meds together, you can come up with a really exciting, scandalous story about how she died.

Sad

By all accounts a very sweet, radiant, and down to earth woman. Way too young to die.

BTW Heart Attacks are the most common cause of death in women in their 30s.

I take Klonopin, which is on that list, for severe panic attacks. It is a benzodiazepine, or in other words a tranquilizer. It should NOT be combined with other benzodiazepines such as Ativan. Both should DEFINITELY not be used with any kind of opiates, like Hyrdrocodone. I had to be very careful with the Vicodin I was taking after I got my wisdom teeth out because of the Klonopin. The Propranolol is not only used for heart conditions, but high blood pressure as well.

Bottom line is these meds don't play well together. If she had a valid prescription for all of them she should have been given detailed instructions on how to use them.

The cocaine/heroin habits that I've heard mention don't help, neither does the last photo taken of her. She looked way too skinny.

Tragic. Why is it that the good people seem to meet their untimely demise? It's never someone you're sick of seeing all the damn time like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton or Britney Spears.

Ativan and Klonopin absolutely can be used together. While more often than not it is only one of the two that are prescribed, they can be safely taken together, at which time one is taken daily and the other is used, as you probably use yours, PRN, or as needed for severe anxiety or panic attacks.

You had to be careful with the Vicodin you were taking - not you couldn't take it at all. Also, the Ativan or Klonopin could have been PRN and rarely if ever used. I know several people who get a prescription for 30 or 60 Ativan or Xanax or Klonopin a month, to be used PRN, and end up throwing them away when they expire a YEAR later. Just because she had them does not mean she was taking them at this time.

Similarly, I have Vicodin in my junk drawer from when I had my wisdom teeth removed almost two years ago. I haven't taken one since the day after my surgery. Just because it's there does not mean she was taking it.

High blood pressure IS a heart problem - again - not a surprise seeing as how she died of heart issues.

As far as drugs - perhaps she did have drug problems in the past - lots of folks do - but that doesn't mean they played a part in her death. Maybe they did. I don't know. You don't know. So let's not try to make a scandel out of a tragedy for our own entertainment, hm?
