All you lovers of bare feet, take heed. There's a disease one can get from going barefoot too much, if you happen to live in the higher elevations in Ethiopia. It's called mossy foot and it looks like this.

It's caused by walking barefoot in volcanic soil which contains tiny microfibers of volcanic glass. These microfibers end up in the lymphatic system and do all kinds of damage as you can see.

So remember. Shoes are good things!

Although, I think I'd be more frightened walking around urban areas barefoot. :flatstare:
