What is Hijacking?????

I have just found out that Isabeau has just been BANNED from the silly forum for hijacking in the hero's thread. I am a little confused as to why since she said "bellystrokes was her hero and made her feel all warm and fuzzy" or something like that. As I have only been on here for a couple of months I've been hearing this pharse an awful lot, but everyone I talk to about it has a different answer!

So what exactly is HIJACKING a thread?

Does this apply to ALL the sections, like silly stuff, which I had been informed was the ONLY exception?!

Who is the true party responsable the first party or the one who respondes?

I think it was more than one person who told me. I will say they weren't Mod's any of them! Please don't think I'm trying to start trouble here i just think with all the problems we've been having about this, that maybe hijacking has a lot of vague gray areas!!!! That's all I'm saying. But Jeff I probably Hijacked first, not Isabeau! And it should be me that is banned, which I will except if I have done wrong!

To answer your original question, hijacking is when someone takes a thread away from its topic for their own purposes, like when two people suddenly start going back and forth with flirty talk. It's a constant issue here and lately it's been getting completely out of hand, no thread is safe from it anymore.

Some people do it accidentally, and a single comment from us is enough, asking them to cool it. Others seem to do it compulsively, they can't see anyone say anything nice about them without exploding in a frenzy of hugs, kisses, and smoochies. Those people are going to be hearing from the mods a lot in the near future 🙂

Is there some kind of contract for us to read on this subject? I was PMed about the silly forum I guess Ann had made some ruling on it. I was unware of anything written that explains hijacking anywhere on this site?

Thank you. I read it but it makes no mention of the silly forum and whether it applies or not!

I realize I am not the sharpest red-violet in the crayola box, so please forgive my confusion. This is what I saw:

Issy listed me as one of her heros. Totally honored I replied back. And then joked along with the always darling Illticklu, creating a very postive "community feeling" that is associated with this board.

Then somebody I never met jumps out and calls me a "fucking moron" (she is probably right, but she could she have at least introduced herself to me first). And yes, I tend to be rather tantric in life, but I did find the approach and wording rather rude and mean-spirited. A "warning guys, you might be hijacking" would have been just as effective but also kinder.

So we can't digress even a little when it is friendly? But calling mean names is ok?? Got it.

Then I found out Issy was banned. But it was me and
the ever darling Illticklu that did the hijacking. So, will I be seeing Issy and Illticklu in detention?????

(BTW, Issy and Illticklu, my mom told me you were a bad influenc!!!!!)

I don't discuss anything about anyone except with that person, and neither will any other moderator. If someone did something you think was wrong, report it, don't try to open a public discussion about it.

That goes for isabeau too. Whatever is going on is between her and the mod staff and isn't going to be discussed in public, as I'm sure she would prefer.

I checked the silly stuff rules and Mimi stated in paragraph #4 that we should keep it to a minimum to save computer space. This was supported by post #3 by TklDuo-Ann. So that makes me just as guilty as the others. My fault and no one elses and I throw myself on the mercy of the court.

If saving space is an issue in the silly forum, theres a crap load of threads that could be cut out. half the threads on there are basically the same topic just worded a tiny bit different. :ranty:

It's not a space issue, we had some space problems for a while but I moved us onto a bigger server last year and we're fine now.

But hijacking is still a problem because it prevents people from discussing things.

Obviously in this one instance it wasn't the end of all conversation on the TMF, but in the last few months this has become a serious problem on the forum, you almost can't turn around without finding a thread that started out being about something and ended up being a three way flirt fest.

It really has to be brought under control, and we've been discussing it a lot among the staff here.

What about threads that have dozens of guys doing nothing but talkin about how good certain females of the tmf look or to that degree Such as the "show your whatever" threads, it comprises of maybe 2 pictures and then the rest of just people oogling and goin "nice" or whatever and just having their own little convos with the person and their picture about how good it is. If yer gonna ban somethin small izzy did, you better ban a crapload of people who do what i listed above

Well id like to ask this question then, is this a policing by mods or policing by members sending complaints to mods. I dont know the complaint history but i have no problem with the "thread hijacking" and id like to ask how many people really do have problem with it or if it really is a problem and simply being blown out of proportions by a minority of members

I totally agree with Jeff here. Isabeau is not the topic of this thread!!!!! Her punishment has been given. We have agreed to the mods authority, and I will respect it, even if, as in this case, I do not agree with it, I will say what is done is done.

Jeff and I discussed this privately so that topic is closed!!!

I have a hard time believing that there are many people who don't mind having their threads hijacked. If you're the exception to that, you can certainly put a disclaimer in your signature and invite people to do that.

That said, it's a mod-level decision not one arrived at by polling the members. I know for a fact that a lot of people would like us to remove the Golden Rule, but doing that wouldn't make this a better forum.

This is one of the best run forums on the internet. I've been a member of a lot of forums on a lot of subjects and it's icredibly rare to find a place where you can discuss things freely without being harassed, ESPECIALLY a sexually oriented one, and we bust our asses to make sure this is such a place. Thread hijacking directly interferes with that goal, and I guess you're just going to have to take our word for that if it isn't obvious to you.

That said, I think we all know that your level of interest in this begins and ends with Isabeau. So do me a favor and find another way to show your love that doesn't require me to keep making these posts.

Sorry i just dislike hypocrisy when its delt to friends of mine anywhere, im done with this on the public matter, if u want clarification to my issues, the appropriate channels are available. My final comment on it: I defend my friends

I've had dozens of threads "hijacked", as per your definitions, and I could care less.

Frankly, I'd rather have a thread occasionally "go in another direction" then have the same points repeated over and over and over again, ad nauseum, which seems to happen an awful lot more than 'hijacking'.

Just my opinion.
