1,540 Pounds of Cocaine Hidden in Squid

Peruvian anti-drug agents were surprised when they were looking through a shipment of squid and found 1540 POUNTD of Cocaine which is estimated to be worth about $17.5 million on the street. The drugs were wrapped up in plastic, had pepper on them, & were in 25 tons of squid fillets.

Pretty inventive, I have to say. Scary, though as I simply ADORE both squid as well as octopus. Yikes! Next time I indulge, I'll order a fork, knife...and short straw! Eek!

BTW, I was recently freaked out by the independent flick "Maria Full of Grace", about the Colombian drug mules. My God--harrowing, powerful film. According to the film, sometimes they stuff these poor peoples' tummies with as much as 100 coke-filled pellets, half the size of an egg.

About when I joined the forum, I read somewhere that a couple from TX visited Mexico with their son and he was kidnapped while they were down there. A week or month later the police found the boy, some local drug runners had taken out his organs and were using him as a drug sack. The explaination as to why they did it was that they could say the kld was sleeping when they crossed the border and therefore get the drugs over here easier.
