take up swimming and you too can eat up to 12,000 calories a day...damn..that's more calories than i eat in six to eight months i bet and his breakfast alone is more than i eat in hmm a month maybe...i'm talking about Michael Phelps..
 
Hmmm .. 12 000 calories a day. That's a lot of salad!
Pity he probably doesn't have much time to enjoy the food though, swimming must
take up almost all his time if he's able to win 8 gold medals ...

Well, 12000 calories is roughly 5 days worth of an average mans daily allowance.
Anyway, he does swim 50 miles a day (I think). 😛
 
he eats three egg, bacon and cheese sandwiches for breakfast..a five egg omelette..two cups of coffee..a big bowl of grits...three pieces of french toast with powdered sugar...and two chocolate chip pancakes..i believe i'll hurl now..
 
I really don't get it with the calories obsession... you live only once on Earth... enjoy it how ever you want

true..but i want to live on earth not obese..and it's a female thing..i've been dieting my whole adult life just to stay at the weight i am...

and i do enjoy my life...thank you...

Hehe. Yeah, I think most females are like that- me included. Most being around 96% I'd estimate. 😛
And I'm a perfectionist, so I never really enjoy my life unless I'm in an odd state of mind (which tends to happen more frequently than not, mind you 😉).
 
12,000! I heard what that guy eats to keep up his energy, amazing. There is no way I could do that if I tried. I am trying to cut back... lol. My current job is far less active than past jobs so may weight is starting to creep back up. I need to nip that in the bud.
 
Breakfast: three fried egg sandwiches with cheese, tomatoes and lettuce, and that's just the appetizer; fried onions and mayo; three chocolate chip pancakes; a five-egg omelet; three slices of French toast; a bowl of grits; and two cups of coffee, apparently to keep him from choking.

Lunch: a pound of enriched pasta, two large ham and cheese sandwiches on white bread with mayo; energy drinks.

Dinner: another pound of pasta, maybe some carbonara sauce to dress it up; large pizza; more energy drinks.

You'd think after eating all that he'd at least throw down a tray of cupcakes or something 😀. It really is amazing what some of these athletes eat.

Sounds reasonable to me. His metabolism is probably pretty sped up and to stay in that kind of shape he must be pretty active as well. The real downside is that eating a lot gets expensive pretty quickly. We're talking about enough food for a family of 4 being consumed by a single person. Say, $200 a week or so if you plan well?
