J Frank Cashen, the long time General Manager of the New York Mets in the 1980s, and early 1990s, who rebuilt them from a last place team.. and was largely responsible for acquiring and drafting the Mets players who won the 1986 World Series, passed away today.
There are conflicting reports of Mr Cashen's age,. but it is believed he was born in 1922.
Mr Cashen was one of baseball's top executives for a long period of time.
