I'm really trying to get into this series, i liked the premier, but since then i have had to wonder, Is Jack bauer a metro sexual. I'm serious, he always carriess around a man bag, and it looks like he wears those emo pants. I guess i might be the only sick human being in the world who thinks about these types of things, but it just struck me as funnny. I think between this and commander and chief that hollywood is jsut trying to feminize us so that hillary can run in 08

Now there's a movie to feminize folks. Two white men in the boy's life, both of whom push him to succeed and are oblivious to his feelings, while the mother and the black man friend continually encourage him to grow and ask him about what he's going through. Of course, with the gentle chastising of the others, the two white men both come around humbly to give the boy what he needs in the end.

It's possible that this is more of a thought for you because of him and his personal nuances and presense, in addition to the nuances of his personal effects and clothing.

the backplot of the fifth season of 24 is that the real perpetuaters of the terrorist threat is a rebel faction of the presidents administration that is planning to plant WMD in parts of Asia to justify US military presence for the purpose of securing "the flow of oil for the next generation."
I surrender, the vilification of this president through the mainstream media is much too much, and my psyche grows weary. I wish that the democrats would just rigg the election in 08 instead of having the entire monday lineup serve as a propaganda tool, is there no end.

In defense of the show (this particular episode), that information wasn't completely acurate. The president's aid was making a passable lie that he would hope is good enough in the president's view to let the pieces fall where they may, which was really just an attempt to slow CTU down long enough, which it did.
The truth of the plot of this episode is that the terrorists are taking the WMDs out of America with the intention to use them on their own people because of the treaties the US and Russia signed just hours earlier.
The aid (who is in league with the terrorists) was merely trying to "seduce" the president with the promises of oil so he would agree to letting things go according to plan, with the president not knowing whats really going on. This failed with Jack's intervention, but the terrorists now have the WMDs.
So while the aid joined them in the interests of securing oil, he only now realizes how deep he got into this mess and that he played right into the terrorist's hands. It's either that, or he is/was fully a part of their cause.
So theres really two sides to the story of this season, and one half of it is already over with the revelation that the aid allowed access to the WMDs for oil. It's too early to say if the main theme of this season will deal with oil, but it doesn't seem so at this point, since it was resolved in one episode. The main point now seems to be getting those canisters before they are shipped out of the country or can be detonated. It may seem like more of the same thing from last season, but then what did you expect from this show after watching it in past seasons?
While it is true there are political themes entertwined in this show, it's fictional just enough that it's not a direct stab at any one person or any one situation or country even and it would be a shame if people didn't watch this tense, action packed show because they choose to watch too much politically minded news on tv and choose to use this information to bad-mouth a show thats meant first and foremost for entertainment, not existing or non-existant political agendas and paying lipservice to them.
You and you alone control the flow of politics in your household. Mr. Sutherland should be ignored because you think he's a bad actor, not because you feel he's lending his services to a political front.

The very nature of this show is obviously supported and loved by fans, given it's continued success. So if they can overlook political nuances in the show in favor of just wanting to see some thrills, action, and drama, then perhaps you should consider doing the same.
And by "you" I mean anyone who wouldn't watch tv programming because you so closely equate it with the real world. Even if you are/would be right, it's still possible to enjoy this show, or any other, at it's basic levels of entertainment.
24 isn't a right or left wing powered show. It is simply a show about counter-terrorism. Thats what it's made of, thats what it sells itself on, and thats what makes it a success. Anyone, from any "side", can enjoy it at that level because its a common sentiment they share.

i was only about 1/4 serious vlad. I am addicted as is everyone to this stuff already, when he and that tall blonde lady had that whole lovey dovey phone conversation i was on the edge of my seat and hooked.
about the whole oil thing, it was spoiled when they found the US insider that retriggered the nerve gas to explode in asia, the Aid was telling the truth, his plan just got screwed up with no help from jacks meeting with the other SS guy. In the rest of the season, it will just be lucky that Jack got as far as he did to take over the investigation of the nerve gas that they now planb on using against the US because the Aid and the undercover operative were planning to detonate ther gas pre-maturly, presumably with the terrorists in close proximity.

Yeah, I knew you weren't completely serious. I mean, someone who watches this show and enjoys it, and then complains about it's nature is kind of silly. ^^
Yeah, the aid was telling the truth, but was also telling a lie to make the truth a reality, and thats part of what made confronting the president with it so exciting. I didn't expect him to do that. Sometimes the best cover is to tell a half-truth or the complete truth, as either people will buy it or understand your logic and begrudgingly go along with it.
The aid screwed up though, since the terrorists have now backed out of their end of the deal. It's kind of stupid to believe terrorists will live up to their word and use weopons you give them the way you want them too. But hey, its a plot device, and it works. 😛
