As we are about to celebrate the 4th of July, Id like to pass along a message and share a few thoughts.
This country, The United States of America, is more than a country. Its a ideal, a hope, a dream and the land where anything is possible. Many years ago everyone celebrated togeather and enjoyed a great day. But with much of the partisian bickering and sometimes outright hatred between people, I hope that this 4th of July we stop focusing on what is so diffrent about each other and focus on whats the same. We are all Americans. We are blessed to live in this country, for all its faults, black-eyes, and brusies, there is still no where else on earth Id want to live. Im not saying this to slight or to put down any of our friends overseas or up north or south but this is my country. One that I proudly served in a war, one my father did, my grandfather died for, and his father before him. But this doesnt have to be about fighting for freeedom, this needs to be about being Americans, and being proud perhaps not about what our current trends may or may not be, but our past, our heritage, what this nation has done to make this world a better place.
I hold no ill will to those that do not agree with my personal beliefs, that is what makes this nation great. The fact that WE CAN disagree, all live diffrent lives and always have someone to turn to or defend us for our beliefs.
I dont care if your gay, black, red, brown, liberal, conservative, poly, mono, christian, atheist, or whatever....we are all when it comes down to it, Americans. I dont believe in African-American, Mexican-American, or other put togeather words, I believe that everyone is an American.
I am an American first. I care for my fellow Americans, and I would protect my fellow Americans with my very life as I have done so before. Ive seen terrible things and divisions among this country I love, but I believe that if we could all just agree that above all else we are Americans, a lot of these problems would seem more like petty squabbles rather than huge problems that can not be solved.
I plan on BBQing tommrrow, twice in fact. One time in a poorer area near where I live, and feeding whomever comes. I wont ask about their politics, I wont ask about their background, all Ill ask is what theyd like to eat.
Then in the evening I will be with my family, grilling for them. Again, no politics, just food and fun.
I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. Remember that even poorest of us in this country have it a lot better than the poorest of the rest of the planet.
We are indeed lucky to be in this country, with all its faults, and all the idiots in government, we still are One Nation, and we still are the United States of America.
To all of our freinds not from America, also a special thank you to all of you. Without many of you, our country would not be as great as it is. It is people from all over the world, from countries all of you reside in that come here to add something good to our country, and I as an American thank all of you all over the world for your contributions and continued support and love of this Nation. Where our government you might not always agree with, you know that the People and the country as a whole is still a great place to be, with great people you would like to be with.
I know most of you not in the US dont celebrate the 4th of July, but know that when I celebrate...Im thinking of all of you that in your own ways help make this nation and planet a better place for us all.
Just a few thoughts I wanted to share. If any of you have anything to add, please feel free.

(PS I still hate the French though...IM not going soft on that 😛 LOL)
