I'm not sure if you felt my commentary (yeah,right!) was to state all rappers are bad. I'd be the first to agree that there are a very few and very far between rappers that haven't sunk to the "rap game" tactics prevalent today. You'd think some of these people would take lessons from the school of Tupac and Biggie! Some of this stuff has gotten people killed. It's a serious abuse of the gift and it makes it easy for society in general to dismiss rap to criminals and thugs. That wasn't the way it started-it was a place for poets, politicians, and visionaries to get their message out through music.

I wish more rappers would step to the plate and put out something impressive, insightful, and positive. For every NAZ there's tons of ludacris, JayZ, and 50cent that I personally think bring the rap industry to shame and lose the respect it should have.

But that would require too much effort wouldn't it? It's easier to write about drugs, sex, bi**hes hoes and thug life than it would be to write "I can", isn't it?

I don't see why there are always alot of replys to this Rap/Hip Hop Threads. I mean i like and listen to rap as well. But the simple fact of the matter is ALL the rappers weather it's underground rap or mainstream Vh1 Mtv Mtv2 BET type rap. ALL the rappers that are in that type of business when they do wrong (breaking the law etc..) they need to be punished for it (no matter what they did and no matter how big or how not so big of rap stars they are) no there's no black or white here or inbetween middle ground line.

I've heard a lot of ignorant crap from many members here, but that shit has to top it all. Obviously you pay attention to the ones who would rather indulge in the "culture" than the music.

As for 50 Cent, if you ask me, he's pretty run-of-the-mill for me. I've heard several better rap artists out there, personally. Unlike some of his peers, most of his tracks seem to be of self-praise of how great he is, and to take pops at others who are just going by their own business shows how much needless, inconsequential arrogance he has. Proof that music, let alone hip-hop, is image-driven. Obviously he don't give a shit about Eminem. He doesn't care for his mentor's recent single, and to incur the wrath of his peers will bring nothing but trouble. 50 Cent could get what's coming to him real soon...

Ok, i stand corrected. not all hip hop and rappers should be in jail. lets say about 90% of them to be fair. and even the few that do a good deed here or there is still most likely into illegal things.

I really don't hear it reported very often in other musical genres (I mean, you don't see John Williams taking out Danny Elfman... sorry bad example, but I couldn't resist). Because the rap and hip hop genre is world wide known (in many different cultures and languages) and loved and listended by many many many people from black to white to asians to mexicans to japense etc.... it's one of the major music genres (more so then any of the other genres of music out there) rap and hip hop has a big impact on the music business. so i'm guessing that's some of the main reasons why

and rap and hip hop contunies to grow and grow each and every day keeping the genre fresh and new something for everyone.

I was thinking the same thing. Young bloods The Foo Fighters never tried to 'take out' old timers Jan and Dean, even though time and geography puts these two members of basically the same genre in different 'posses'.

I disagree... Country, Pop, and Punk seem to all be tied for the hallowed "most talentless music on the planet" title. Just take a look at Simple Plan, Shania Twain, or Michelle Branch: there's enough proof there. However, Eminem really is trying hard for this title: I think he feels he owes it to the genre.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course, but I hardly understand the point of entering a thread clearly labelled to be a topic some folks have no interest in, posting a reply STATING the fact you have no interest in it, and slipping in a few snide remarks or mild flames intended to do nothing but upset those who DO have an interest in it. You can fully see from the title of the thread that the topic of this thread is based on hip hop or rap music. So if that's not your thing, why come in here and announce it, as well as flame those who are interested in it by saying they have no tastes since they have a different opinion from you?
