6.0 Earthquake felt in San Jose

I just got word from my coworkers in San Jose that they felt a pretty good earthquake a bit ago...

A strong earthquake occurred at 10:15:24 AM (PDT) on Tuesday, September 28, 2004.
The magnitude 6.0 event occurred 14 km (9 miles) NNW of Shandon, CA. 135 SE of San Jose.


It's actually been a bit strange with my move up here that we rarely feel any earthquakes. In fact, I haven't felt even one in the last 4 months. You get very used to them down around the San Jose area. I almost had to adjust to not feeling them anymore.

I heard about this on the news a little while ago, and shaking my head in disbelief over some of the damage their were showing as a result of this earthquake. I pray all of our members in central CA and the surrounding areas are safe and well!

that's why i hate earth quakes. i've never been a big fan of them 🙁 . But living the in Northwest we don't have very many of them. i have prob only been in like 3 earth quakes my entire life.

But like all things God made everything in this world including earth quakes.

The good thing about quakes is they're usually over before you even realize it's a quake. We have hundreds of quakes almost every day but usually they're so small no one feels them. Then we get a good rattle like this.

It's on the San Andreas Fault and the aftershocks seems to be moving north which means it's easing - Hopefully. It's just an adjustment - for now.

My first earthquake was the '89 one and we weren't too far from the San Andreas as the crow flies. Not too many are gonna be worse than that one.
