I would like to just thank all our troops out here everyday protecting us and our country. I would also like to send out special prayers to all who lost family and friends on this terrible day in 2001. God watch over you all and protect our loved ones.

I'm watching the president's tribute to the memorial of 9/11.

I am on the verge of tears.

Very dark things happened, and on this very bright say of September, we pay tribute to those who were lost in the events of September Eleventh, Two T housand One.

My heart always has, and continues to, go out to everyone who was affected personally by the events that unfolded on 9/11, no matter how large or small.

Thank you thicklethisangel for beeing the sweety you are and starting this thread.. We all need to not forget all the lives that were lost and the service men and women who joined them. This date will always be a black day in history. I still remember where I was when it happen. Was at work at a Doctors office and several pateints came in and were talking about it.. we changed the radio station that played in the wating rooms to listen to the news as it happen . I called my Mom and she kept calling the office to keep us updated and my co workers knew her for she was also a patient.
The Terrorist thought they would break us american down by attacking in several places, what it did was bring us closer as a whole society. You cant break the american spirit. I am proud to say I am American and will stand behind any service personal. It still brings tears to my heart, sprit, eyes.

As I think back on that terrible day, it seems like it was yesterday. One plane hit the first tower, and then the second plane hit, and my mom came into my room hysterically, saying she thought our country was doomed. I remember feeling just numb. A few minutes later my father called me from New York, and told me he loved me. Afterward, the phone lines to New York were messed up for hours, and when I finally did get through, my father and my aunt told me how people on the sidewalks of New York were walking around with zombied, mummified looks on their faces.

My thoughts and prayers are always with the victims of 9-11, and their familes, and with the brave men and women who risk their lives every day, in Iraq, and around the world.

I'm one who has always believed that 9-11 should be some formal holiday as a national day of rememberance. It was really the day our innocence was lost, and the day that changed the world forever.

I was young when much of it was going on. I remember being in 7th grade Math Class and hearing the announcement about it over the PA system. The library was closed so the principal could keep an eye on the news.

Since then, I've seen and watched every documentary on what happened, including the conspiracy ones such as LooseChange, which I actually just watched a few days ago.

The whole situation in a nutshell was a shitty one that should have never happened, ever. Period. EOD.

Every year. 9/11 sneaks up on me every single year. I feel terrible that it does, too. Such a horrible event should be etched into my mind as if it happened only yesterday. Maybe it's because the whole thing is too painful to think about at times. As much as a deplore war and violence, I will always be thankful to the heroes that are trying their damnedest to ensure that such tragedy never happens again.
