As the above says, mortals, a Britlandish friend, after putting down her tea and adjusting her monacle, was unable to figure out the difference between

what the British call a Biscuit

and what your typical US Citizen would call a Biscuit

I assured her that the difference was well known but for some reason she's having trouble taking my word for it. Which is of course silly, as I know and see all. This lack of knowledge has recently caused her some.....torment.

Please elucidate her.

You got me... what the hell is an American biscuit if not something crunchy and sweet, which goes rather well dunked in or accompanying a cup of tea (2 sugars of course)?

A stateside biscuit is like a scone, but it's usually eaten with savoury rather than sweet stuff. A generally-UK-area biscuit is like a cookie, and can be found in office cupboards and the homes of grandmothers.

Biscuits are things you dunk in tea. Pastry is what you make a pie out of 😀

^^ That's right, biscuits in Britain are what Americans would call cookies.

I could really go for a "biscuit" right now.

No. Not the American biscuit.

The English one.

It would go great with a hot cup of coffee. Or tea.

I remember having to explain what a Jammie Dodger was! Was that ever hard!

My heart goes out to those who have never enjoyed a breakfast of American biscuits smothered in spicy sausage gravy. Mana from heaven, it is. :hungry:

I prefer chipped beef gravy over fried potatoes. :hungry:

Similar to shit on a shingle, which is served over toast. My dad and uncle Harold had more then their share of that while serving in WWII. A lot of people who served then vowed to never eat it again. The name they gave it tells the story of how they felt about it.

^ Lol, I just have, I knew I couldn't post it without having to make one. I think I ate to much too fast, now I'm lying here like a python trying to digest it.
