A Critique of Video Companies

Artistic critiques serve several purposes: to allow
intellectual discussion of entertainment, and most
importantly, to help the entertainers create better
entertainment. The second reason is what this
critique will focus on. I wish no insults, this
is not ain't-it-cool-news. (A forum that I visit everyday,
and I encourage everyone who loves movies to do, but 90%
of the talkbacks simply state "that movie sucked!"
and never bothers to say WHY.)
There needs to be better videos out there. Period.
any of the video companies that do the good work are part
of this forum, so that's a great start. I hope they will
take in my critiques, and not be angered by them.
Because I mean no harm, I critique so that improvement will
be made.
Many of these tapes are expensive, and are unfortunatly
not worth the money. I mean, twenty, thirty, sometimes
forty bucks for a video! Come on! If it is a well done
video, it's worth the money, but if it's not, when the models
don't even laugh, there's a problem. We the paying customer
want good work for our money. I have heard people
complain that critiques shouldn't be made, after all.
We should just accept whatever we get and be happy.
Well, that's not good enough. I watched FM concepts
videos where the model just sits there! They aren't even
tickled, just tapped, the model doesn't even laugh, lots of
times she doesn't even smile, and there's maybe two camera
angles, and the same room! Star Wars Episode I costs
fifteen bucks, and has two hours of special effects
and story! Now, I of course know that these companies
don't have that budget, but still. How much are the models
payed? You pay them money, and all they have to do
is laugh when tickled, well, they should be spectacular!
But instead they squirm uncomfortably, and are just plain
boring.
I remember one advertisement for a video long ago
saying how they just plopped the camera down all the way
across the room, and didn't bother with any "wierd camera
angles." The models only made up about a fourth of the
entire frame, and you couldn't see anything. The room
was darkly lit, and the video quality lacked severly. This
is ridiculous. Turn the lights on! Get some close-ups!
Use the video basics! Foot tickle shot, reaction shots,
back to foor tickle shot, wide shot, medium shot including
the reaction on her face and the girl tickling her.
You don't need money to do good work, you just need
to know the basics, spend a little more time, and use
your imagination. Dress up the models, put it in different
enviroments. I mean, where's the office tickles!!!
Poeple have been asking for those forever! The bedroom is
featured in 99% of videos, that got boring long ago.
Now, there is hope. One, hopefully the creators will
read this post. I have asked Femfeet/RealTickling
to make an office tickling video, and they actually
e-mailed me back saying "good idea." That is why they are
the best. Now, hopefully they will do it. I asked for flesh colored pantyhose, beacuse few companies do that,
yet it is requested often. I asked for high heels and
office dress, because again, it is rarley portrayed.
I asked that they show the models walking around the office
in their pantyhosed feet, or relaxing with them kicked up
on the desk, because when it happens in real life, it
is exciting. It's more interesting because it's natural.
The tickler should have to remove the shoes, (everyone
always says slowly, I can't argue with that.) Why, because
of ANTICIPATION! Like in Independence Day, where you know
what will happen, but the excitement builds for an hour
as the ships hover into place, and the clock ticks down.
Or as the story build, or the confrontation builds,
as an office situation would allow.
Fm doesn't do this, and it is disappointing. I think
people have a problem with them mainly because they have
good equipment, beautiful models, but don't do anything.
The ticklee starts off barfoot, the overtalkative tickler
blabs the whole time, barely touches her feet, and the
ticlee doesn't laugh. If she does laugh, you can't hear
because that guy keeps talking. Oh brother. Now, they have
done well, they have models who don't blab the whole time,
just whe necessary, and models who are genuinely ticklish,
and lauh when tickled. These should be applauded.
I also asked that that office video feature Rachelle
and Cierra Baynes. Now, they can add whoever they like,
but Rachelle is the star of the tickling world, in my
humble opinion. She laughs when tickled, and she seems
to really enjoy it. And THAT'S the most important part
of any tickling video. We have to know they are enjoying
it, even though they may even pretend not too. That's
why when the story has them actually asking for more,
well, everyone dies. When the model looks uncomfortable,
or isn't laughing, it's not fun, it's disturbing. You want
to push away the tickler.
Now, here are some suggestions, since this is a critique
and not mere condemnation. Use variety. Do different
things. Go to some of those pictures, and turn them
into a story. I've seen pictures where I wish I could
seen the video instead of one frame. People always ask
if that picture went with a video, and usually it was
only one picture. Make a video based on it! You, the
video producers have talent. You can do incredible work.
Another suggestion - more pantyhose! This is requested
often, but not really seen that much. More heels, even
sandals. These go with the pantyhose, which is why
they aren't seen that much. Dresses, mini skirts,
long dress pants and heels or sandals and stockings...
The more "normal" it is, the more exciting. Tickling
in an office enviroment, or by a nurse, or a teacher, etc.
is an unnatural event happening in a normal situation.
That's why it's so cool!
I hope these critiques are heard. I think those stories
that people love so much should be turned into a video.
Start of wih a good story, lots of action, good acting,
and your sales will go up and your audience will be happy.
That happy audience is THE most important thing above all
else. Take a look at Danni's harddrive, a site once
mentioned by Roger Ebert, America's most popular movie
critic. It is fun, well done, has a lot of variety,
and most important, the models really enjoy themselves.
It is not a tickling site, but it should be studied.
It has a goofiness, a fun aspect that should be adopted
by some of these video companies. No one's ever really
thought of that! I mean, it's tickling, how much more
goofy fun can you have! This world we live in is too
serious, you turn on the news and see death or other dismal
subjects everyday. This forum and these videos help
relieve all of life's tensions. They should be well made,
fun, goofy, and enjoyable, for us and the models, and the
creators. Good luck..........and how about some office
tickling!!

Well, I think you're overstating a little. Tickling videos have come a long way since Cal-Star and others. I think everybody will agree that Magic Touch and Femfeet blow these companies away. Also, just realize not everyone shares your preferences. I for one don't like when companies waste precious tape time on their dumb plots, and also don't care for pantyhose at ALL.

Well, mabus, it's a pity that you don't distinguish between criticism and your personal taste. Some of the points you brought up are really hitting a soft spot with many producers: constant talking by the tickler, for example. No objections against a few words now and then, to heighten the ticklee's tension and anticipation, but what we really want to hear is the victim's laughter and pleading, not a microphone-happy commentator!

Another point: camera. Some producers tend to block the camera angle with their own bodies, others focus on the flexing feet while the tickling happens elsewhere. Many times, the camera's just too far away to see the victim's laughing face, or the twitching tummy muscles. I've even seen videos where all kinds of people walk right through the picture. All of us have started as amateurs once, but we didn't charge professional prices for our works then!

As jorus mentioned, companies like Magic Touch or Femfeet just belong to a higher league, dwarfing most of the others to insignificance. Footparadise is improving considerably lately, but others just stick to their old habits.

The rest of mabus's criticism is mainly expressing his disappointment about the video companies not following his own personal taste. But that happens to almost all of us sometimes, doesn't it?

Yeah man, thanks for the "critc" but most of it sounds like just your personel tastes for a video, ie: pantyhose and office scenes. I want to see a bare foot tickled, not some manmade material called pantyhose. I realize you have personel wants but don't expect those video companies to spend 1000's of dollars to basically make you a custom video so you can give them only $35 for it.
I like where mt & ff are going with their videos lately. Let em be.

a bit of clarification...

My preference was only ONE example, don't misunderstand.
God forbid all videos be exactly alike, even in my taste.
That would be like Hollywood making all those Jaws clones.
You already know what to expect, so tune them out. Not good.
I just think their should be more variety.
Here's a list of what I think would make a good video,
and this applies to all forms of entertainment, sports,
movies, tickling videos, plays...
-Quality is always good. With the one exception of The
Blair Witch Project, which used "bad" quality successfully,
a well done video is always more enjoyable than one not
well done. Attention to all the little details,
lighting, costumes maybe, sets if they are needed, things
of that nature.
-An overtalkative tickler is bad. Talking is not bad, don't
get me wrong. When done right, it adds greatly. But
talking the WHOLE time, it distracts. I can understand
the want to talk, because it's hard to keep quiet when
the camera is on you. The tickler probably feels this
need to talk, because most people get nervous saying
very little when the attention is focused o them.
-Diversity is good. Doing different things, you will
attarct more customers who may not regulary buy videos
that show the same bedroom scene, or whatever. I'm not
dissing the bedroom scene, but it's shown in 80% to
90% of videos. Here's an example: when's the last time
they did a harem scene? Or a ticklish, or tickler
genie? Or a cheerleader scene? Or a medieval scene?
these are just a few exanmples of what I tried to talk
about in the original post...

There are some great videos out there, so please understand,
I mean absolutely no insult. I learned in school how to
critique and not insult, and you must realize, the real
critic wants to make things better, and thereby help
out the artist so they do bettter, not just bitch and
complain. The whiners just want to whine.

Good luck, and keep up the good work...javascript:smilie('🙄')
