A northwestern Rhode Island town received an unexpected gift, a crosswalk to nowhere. The white-striped pedestrian crosswalk appeared just under two weeks ago when a man stepped out of his house to get his mail. The crosswalk expands from a large hedge on one side of the country road to a stonewall on the other side. State-hired striping contractors painted the crosswalk accidentally. The city will leave the crosswalk and let it fade instead of removing it.


I wish they would have told me that they were building something that ends at the door to my room
