A message for Kobe Bryant...

Cute....

Keep in mind Kobe was *this* close to winning one. Next year, he gets Bynum back and then we will see.

I hope you do remember that Shaq owes a great deal to Dwyane Wade for gettin ghim his 4th title...

If Shaq were still in LA they would both have 6 by now.

Shaq owes alot to the OFFICIALS for his fourth championship

In a recent interview during the Finals, Phil Jackson was asked about fouls and he brought up the PHANTOM fouls Wade got, he laughed and said that was a joke the amount of respect that Wade got. He got calls that the great Jordan himself never got called.

Yep. The same three Shaq has. By the way, that one Shaq is wearing is *one extra*.

He's displaying one Championship ring.

Oh well.

Kobe has three, Shaq has four. I hardly see this grand dispersal you are trying to allude to.

Well, not only that, but I think Shaq might be done winning rings. Something tells me Kobe's not quite done yet. Newbie promising young center Andrew Bynum might be Kobe's next "Shaq". Bynum already busted a spin move dunk and posterized an embarrassed Shaq in a regular season game a few years ago...it's only going to get more embarrassing as Bynum starts to grow into that 7 foot body.

Michael Jordan, who I think was the greatest player ever, was 28 years of age and seven years in the NBA before he won his first ring, and Jordan has won ZERO rings without Scottie Pippen.

Everybody needs help to win titles.

You do know that the NBA has 30 teams, right? There are plenty of good teams, especially in the West. The Lakers will have to compete with all the other Western teams just to play the best that the East has to offer. And lets not forget that the team that just finished whippin' their asses will be back. Kobe won all of his with Shaq. Shaq was the best player in the league back then. Shaq has gone on to win another and could win another in Phoenix. I wouldn't count anyone out.

I find it funny that people keep talking about how Shaq has won without Kobe and Kobe failed without Shaq. People do not take the time and pay attention to details such as the 2006 NBA Finals. Was Shaq even a factor in that series? No. Anyone who watched that series knows it was Dwyane Wade who carried the Heat over the Mavs. Alonzo Mourning, James Posey (damn him) and Wade were responsible for that title. Shaq in the CRITICAL stages of the game was sitting on the bench waving a towel. Yet, everyone fawns over the big lug like he is actually responsible for the title.

Oh I know, Shaq contributed, but dammit, so did Jason Williams the point guard. Does that mean the Heat won because Williams was on the team? No. Look at the Boston Celtics. Did the Celtics win because Tony Allen was on the team? Tony Allen contributed, but we all know the Celtics still win the title with or without Tony Allen. Same with the Heat. They win the championship even if Shaq was sitting in the pressbox eating 4 dozen crates of Krispy Kremes. Shaq was as effective as Tony Allen was. Go back, watch the series again and you will see that.

Shaq is done. He is in Phoenix and it is quite obvious how he slows them down and how he is a liability. He still can't make free throws. He gives you 50% effort over the course of the season, he is 36 years old and Phoenix will still not win the title. The crazy thing is, Phoenix was actually better defensively with Shaq out there, but that's due to no one else on their team knows how to play defense. Shaq is finished and owes Wade everything for getting his 4th title.

Shaq has more rings than Kobe. Yippee. Keep in mind Robert Horry has more rings than either of them. Now what?

whats so funny is that Kobe is crying like a baby because he didn`t get the Wade automatic foul calls like he did all year. For once , the fouls were generally called when they happened, not BEFORE anything happened. Wait wade got another free throw because a defender got within 3 feet of him.

Give it up Flock lol. Just admit your boys got spanked and get over it and move on in life. Please don't turn into another Slaver "screw job" poster.

As far as Kobe.. aaah yes, the almighty wonder boy himself.

I read at least three headlines the week after the finals stating "Kobe will not GM".. "Kobe comfortable with team". Yep, this is again the same Kobe that has run the Lakers since 2004.

Last time I checked the Lakers had someone on the payroll under the listing of General Manager. Yet Kobe still feels he has to GM too?? hmm.. ok.

The most valuable player in the entire league - MVP! MVP! MVP!

MVPs are not supposed to melt like butter in crunch time or crumble like wet paper when it counts most. You know, like blow the biggest lead in Finals history on their own home court. But that's ok. I think he scored 81 pts or something like that in a meaningless season game at one time against.. ah well I guess it doesn't really matter.

To me he will always be the MVP that couldn't hold the biggest lead in Finals history on his own home court in front of his own fans. Darn! If only he had saved some of those 80-something meaningless points..

And this is the same guy who whined like a four year old "I want to win! I want a championship! Waaah! Waah!" Sorry wonder boy, Boston wanted to win too. Their players wanted a championship too. Hey! Surprise! There are actually other teams and players too! WOW! Oh I forget, once again the world evolves around Kobe.

Ok Kobe.. good luck with that GM thing..

MVP! MVP! MVP!

Shaq in the CRITICAL stages of the game was sitting on the bench waving a towel. Yet, everyone fawns over the big lug like he is actually responsible for the title.

It's called foul trouble. Most players DO sit the bench when they have 5 fouls. Also when the other team is probably going to be fouling you, do you want your low percentage free throw shooters on the court? Shaq has openly and publicly admitted he can't hit free throws. It's not exactly a national security secret. Add both of these together and you get what? Shaq sitting on the bench.

Difference of opinion here. Every member of a team that contributes wins a championship. If you win by 2 points and Joe Shmoe scores 3 but All star scores 50 guess what? If Joe doesn't give you those three points you lose. It's called a team sport for a reason. But Kobe lovers only see "how many points I scored", instead of what the team accomplished.

Going by that logic, if LA had won the title this year Gasol would owe everything to Kobe because he really didn't do much in the finals. He was just "out there", while kobe did all the work.

Shaq has more rings than Kobe. Yippee. Keep in mind Robert Horry has more rings than either of them. Now what?

Keep in mind Horry is now the all-time leader in NBA playoff games played, having passed Kareem in 2008. Is it really a surprise he has that many rings? You show up that many times in the playoffs and contribute and you win rings. Again, you have just disproven your own point. He's won that many rings simply because he "contributes", which your post implies really doesn't matter that much, it's all about who scores the most points.

But Heeko, what you are failing to realize is that Shaq's "4th" title had nothing to do with him being the "main guy", like people saw when he won three titles with LA. In those Finals, Shaq showed up and played against those spindly Eastern Conference centers, which is like putting a bull in a china shop. What did Shaq do when the Lakers lost to Detroit? Shaq was scoring points, but who did Detroit focus on? That's right, Kobe Bryant.

The point I make about Shaq being on the bench was that it was WADE who got Shaq his 4th ring. Shaq could have worn a damn suit and not played at all and Wade still brings in the title that year. I'm sick of hearing about this 4th title because for some strange reason, people think Shaq was the main reason the Heat won. He wasn't. Not even close.

As for Shaq and his free throws. I guess you don't listen to Shaq enough. He always says "I make them when they count." You honestly think Shaq would volunteer to get taken out of a game? NO. He says he's the MDE "Most Dominant Ever". Is he MDE except in clutch time?

As for Kobe's Finals performance. I guess his 36 points in Game 3 means nothing. I guess people don't stop and watch games and actually analyze what's happening. Boston did the same defense Detroit did. They did not want Kobe to attack the paint. They got him to commit offensive fouls. Whenever Kobe got past Ray Allen, he saw Garnett or another big body. They were not going to let Kobe Bryant blister them. The Celtics were the #1 defensive team and there was no way they were going to let Kobe skewer them. What does Kobe do? He does what his critics say he should do and that is "pass the ball". He does and his teammates didn't help. Kobe is "damned if you do, damned if you don't." If he shoots a lot, he's a ball hog, if he passes, he's a quitter. People just hate Kobe Bryant.

Kobe will get that 4th ring. He is too talented and he know has a team around him that is going to help him. Hell, if Shaq can get a ring by being a cheerleader, then Kobe can win a ring without having to dominate the Finals. He was two games shy this year. Next chance he gets, he wins. Mark my words.

First Prime I want to congratulate you. Your Lakers and Kobe lost and you still post and even congratulate the NBA champions. That shows true class and loyalty to your team. You don't whine and complain forever. Sure a little sour grapes are expected (F Boston, F PP, F KG, etc), but that's human emotion. I still respect that as you stated such and kept the team going.

Now back to the posts..

When did I ever say Shaq was the "main reason" Miami won? I simply stated they did win while Shaq was there. Shaq contributed yes, but he was far from the main reason they won. The biggest reason they won is the same as when all champions win. They played as a single unit with each piece, no matter how big or small, contributing their part.

I'm not sure about the Lakers. I will say they did surprise this season, but I look for them to fare no better than past Finals losers. They will still compete but I think they are still lacking something.

As for Boston, they are just happy Chauncy was injured in Detroit. Detroit, like LA, will be back. Changes to be made for sure, but they will be back. They are my team in the east.

I totally agree that Shaq is done. He needs to retire. He's had his prime years, he won his rings, he's left his mark on the NBA.

Now he's just looking like an idiot. Instead of trying to rap about Kobe he needs to be on a court somewhere practicing free throws. I also do not care for the way Shaq talks down about every team he plays with. Seeing as they released him, I don't expect him to be hugs and smiles, but there's little reason to distance himself and talk bad about the ones who helped him win titles.

Both Shaq and Kobe have their flaws. Hopefully each will learn from them.

I do have a couple questions I would like to ask..

Is DWade going to play in the Olympics? That was massive surgery he had and even if he is cleared to play, is it really a wise decision to up and play against the best in the world, considering he didn't play most of last season?

Also.. how is Jason Kidd on Team USA?

I know that several players turned down playing in the Olympics, but c'mon. What do you think Prime?

Thanks Heeko, I always give credit where credit is due. If my team loses to a better team, I am man enough to admit it. I am not the typical "whining" fan when my team loses. To quote Jesse Ventura (Howard Cossell actually) "I tell it like it is." Boston was a better team. But I know the Lakers could be better.

The whole Shaq video just continues to prove what I said about Shaq. He has always been about himself. People think Kobe is this selfish guy (to a degree he is), but Shaq has always been about himself. The way he trashes his former teams, his quotes after games and crap like this latest video shows what type of person he is. That's why I enjoy every chance I get to rip Shaq.

But I do want to reiterate that I am a LAKER fan. Had Kobe Bryant left the Lakers, I would be ripping him right now too.

The Lakers have all the ingredients (except a wiley ol' veteran off the bench) to compete for the title. The one thing that separates the Lakers organization from all the rest is that we just keep on winning. There's a reason why the Lakers have gone to 29 Finals. There's a reason why they have 14 titles. There's a reason why everyone loves to hate them. This taste of the NBA Finals will only fuel this outstanding organization more. Sure, it will be tough. The Western Conference is loaded with contenders, but the Lakers are just that. The Lakers. The team everyone loves to hate.

Boston is still the team to beat in the East. Detroit and Orlando will be good, but Boston still has their team. Detroit still has brain lapses and Orlando is just not good enough yet. I can see a Lakers/Celtics Finals again, this time the Lakers win. Call me biased, but damn, history is on my side...

As for Team USA. Wade is on the squad. Wade talked about his strong desire to win a gold medal and he is going to come in with a strong sense of purpose. What I like about Team USA is that these guys are comfortable playing with each other. Kobe wants to be a defensive stalwart. Dwight Howard will be a force in the paint. Carmelo Anthony and Labron James have tremendous athletic ability. Jason Kidd is the veteran and he will calm the troops amid the hostile environment of the Olympics, since everyone wants to see the USA lose.

This team is a "commitment" team. In other words, they just didn't show up right now. It's not like before where people would just say "yay" or "nay". You have to MAKE the team now. They've been together for three years for the most part. That's the key, we need a "team", not an "All-Star" team. This team needs to get used to internation rules, because it favors other countries. If the Olympics were NBA rules, it would be a slaughter. It's funny, the Boston Celtics probably couldn't win the gold medal because they would foul out quickly because the international rules doesn't like "rough" play.

I am definitely looking forward to the Olympics. The US needs to show the rest of the world just who has the best basketball.

now rap along with me.....lol

Kobe, you can't do without me,
Kobe, you can't do without me,

Hey Kobe......

TELL ME HOW MY ASS TASTE!!!!!!

that was laugh out loud funny!!!!!!😛

I am definitely not looking forward to the Olympics. Ugh........ the only long range shooter is Redd and down low we have Bosh, Boozer, and Howard. So basically foul trouble and a lack of 3 point range will kill us AGAIN. Bronze here we come...........

I think Team USA will be fine. Because they have played with each other for a while instead of meeting for the first time this year, they have more cohesion. Everyone has been playing unselfishly, especially Kobe Bryant who prefers to be a defensive stopper. You still have his shooting prowess and his willingness to make others better.

Carmelo Anthony and Labron James have shown that they will be the primary scoring options as each of them have good outside shooting and if they can penetrate the paint, they can finish. I think the key is to have a "run" game because no other country can compete with the athleticism of Team USA.

What concerns me is the officiating. Because these games are under "International" rules instead of NBA style, Team USA will probably get more foul calls than any other team. But if the refs call it "fair", Team USA wins easily.

Oh yeah, Shaq has proved what I have been saying for years. He is the true "ass" between him and Kobe and this latest stuff proves that. Kobe hasn't said a word all these years and he probably won't say a word about Shaq's video either. Now, who really is the bigger man? It is good to see Shaq get criticized for a change. People are starting to see the REAL Shaq. Finally.....

On the surface you would think Team USA should win the gold walking away. This couldn't be further from the truth. Fact is, they are not playing on a NBA court and they are not playing by NBA rules. That alone changes everything.

Fact of the matter is the rest of the world has more than caught up with the United States when it comes to basketball. The 6th pick in the NBA draft was from Italy. Thousands of colleges and thousands on top of thousands of college prospects and they went to Italy to fill a need. Again, that speaks volumes.

As Prime said, if the Olympics were played by NBA rules, the US would win in their sleep. But placing these guys in International Rules is a lot like placing the Patriots, Colts or Cowboys in the Canadian Football League and expecting them to win the title on talent alone. It's a totally different field and totally different rules.

And somebody please tell me where the idea came from that all foreign teams play together all year long and play as a team far longer than the United States?? If that were so, then how has Yao Ming, Dirk Norwitski and Tony Parker been playing with them? Fact is, other countries have leagues too and select their players from those leagues - and yes, they have to actually "make the team" too. Granted, some players are more or less given "automatics" because they are associated with the NBA. But even that is no guarantee.

Also, international rules do not "favor" other countries. They were introduced for just the opposite reason, so that no team would be favored. Spain, Russia, China, Italy, Australia and other countries do not play by "international" rules all season. They have their own rules, much like the NBA has their set of rules. Bottom line is every team has to change their way of playing.

I look forward to the Olympics. Should be very interesting.

Team USA blew away everybody last year in Las Vegas in the international basketball federation FIBA championships, which qualified them for the Bejing olympic berth. They absolutely crushed world competition.

Team USA went 10-0, averaged 116.7 points per game, the most by a USA men’s senior national team since the 1994 USA World Championship Team averaged 120.1 points per game. USA also defeated its opponents by an average of 39.5 points per game, the largest margin of victory by a USA senior squad since the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team defeated its opponents by 43.8 points a contest. The USA men averaged 59.7 points by halftime of its games and its average lead at halftime was 23.0 points.

The 2007 squad rewrote eight USA team records for Olympic qualifying action and added a pair of single game marks, while USA players wrote themselves into eight single game records and four competition records.

Team USA might be the real deal this year.
