The New York Daily News is reporting that the New York Mets have come to a agreement with left-handed pitcher Tom Glavine on a 2 year deal. Tom Glavine who won 15 games during the regular season and 3 more games in the playoffs is looking for 300 wins in his Hall of Fame career. Glavine the long time Brave will get to spend two more season with the Mets giving him 6 season in total with the Mets. Glavine is 48-48 with the Mets and has won 290 career games against 191 losses. It is reported that it is a two-year deal for a reported 25 million dollars. The Mets without the services of Pedro Martinez until at least June felt they needed to keep Tom Glavine on their team. Left handed reliever Darren Oliver the Mets long-man has declared himself a free-agent.

This doesnt surprise me. As most know, there have been a lot of rumors floating around over the past weeks about Glavine going back to the Braves. Logically, with the Braves unmovable 80 million dollar payroll, they couldnt afford to spend 10 mil a year on a 41 year old pitcher. It does surprise me a bit that the Mets and Glavine came to a 2 year deal, as I have read that he publicly said he wants to pitch only one more year, and then retire. However, he won 15 games last year, so for the Mets, this isnt a bad move. Now, as a Braves fan, I just have to hope that he doesnt win number 300 against us!
