Your friend is going to Hell then.

But no, why would a deity such as what many of you call God decree that it is wrong to be interested in such things? It is not, as there is far too much variety in the world for us to deny ourselves such wonders of human psychopathy.

And besides, that whole, "Don't stray to other religions or you'll go to Hell," thing is mainly because The Romans didn't want to have a unified empire right down to how the people governed themselves via morals.
