Why is Michael Jackson's toxicology reports taking so long? A woman, driving supposedly while under the influence of alcohol and some sort of drugs, killing eight people..including several children..one child is still hanging on to life..the last i heard anyway...and her toxicology report was almost instantaneous...what's the difference? David said because of all the various drugs in Michael's system...yet it's been over a month now..

They said it would take up to six weeks. I'm sure they are going to run multiple tests that they might not run on the average person because his family is claiming it was foul play. They probably want to make a thorough investigation. It's also possible they may not want to make certain things public because of all the court drama that is going on and has yet to take place.

From the amount of drugs he was reportedly on they will most likely do a ton of screenings to figure out the levels of each drug in his system and make sure everything is accounted for. They don't do that for normal people, we just get a quick run down of what was in our system at what level.

Well,he sure must have taken a lot of drugs then.I'm sure they don't want the public to know everything though.I feel sorry for those 8 people and their families;I hope that poor child makes it.

Some drugs are harder to screen than others, since some (the benzodiazepines such as Xanax and valium, or narcotics like morphine and oxycodone) have similar metabolites, making it hard to determine which drug it was. Other drugs take longer to detect. Add to the mix the looming certainty of manslaughter charges against the doctor, and you have the need to look for all known and possible drugs in his system. They'll want to completely document anything and everything they find in his blood and tissue samples.

The other factor in this equation is the wacko, kooksville mix of his family. Until it come to trial, you better believe they'll do everything possible to keep everything quiet about the drugs in their (still) primary 'cash cow' (business term, not an insult) to preserve what little image he has left.

On top of the legal issues surrounding Michael Jackson's death, the real reason why there's no results: The Media doesn't make money off of concrete answers, therefore this is being dragged out in the media for as long as possible to make as much $$$$$$ as possible before the truth from the investigation is leaked...they probably already know what happened...and I hope that, for the sake of his children, they get this firestorm overwith already...this is insane.

I know;no offense but I am tired of all the media coverage of this.I know they must really want it to all be over so they can finish grieving in peace.

I agree, Camel! Why have facts when we ca draw out this story for months, nay, I say YEARS to draw out every angle possible to milk the ratings and sales out of each over-sensationalized morsel!

QBBM, sadly, the pond scum known as the Entertainment media still haven't let Elvis' family grieve in peace after multiple decades. Why would they do no less with the supposed "King of Pop"? They'll look for every possible angle and relationship into his death for at least 10 years. There is no such thing as grieving in peace in the Left Coast land of Hollywierd...

OMG;they are so heartless. That makes me angry. This kind of probing and stalking should be illegal. They really ought to make laws to tame the media's ability to go after stories and people like that. Many celebrities have been injured due to their relentless frenzies

Unfortunately, that is part of the price we pay for a free press. Private persons can generally sue for invasion of privacy, but public figures receive very little legal protection from media scrutiny. If they were protected like private citizens, it would be very difficult for anyone to report the news without being sued.

yes,but they swarm them and flash so many lights in their face. They can't see and some have had serious head injuries from being hit with the cameras. Then, they chase them down, swarm around cars.Once they get in a car they can usually get away because who is going to stand in front of a moving vehicle. It's that kind of behavior that makes me mad. They almost stalk the stars too.I just wish they would put laws in place where they can't swarm stars like that.If they want to aggravate them on a private outing...fine but they shouldn't be able to swarm around them and endanger them like that.If the star wants to leave and decline comments they should have every right to other wise it can be considered kidnapping

That's physical assault, a different subject than what I was discussing.

It's the price they chose to pay, willing or unwittingly, for fame and stardom
