Nothing came up for me. However, a warning. There are reports of groups popping up...people claiming to be collecting things "for our troops" only to be found to be keeping or selling what they get. It's probably best to go through the gov't sites in passing things along.

FYI..

This is a live authentic organization people can look into if the want to send stuff to the military folks overseas. It was featured on the Today show and is run by the parents of 5 siblings all in the military.

the right way to donate.

several local police, and fire dept. are accepting donations that will be sent, en mas. to the troops. these are about the only way the military is accepting donations. i saw 2 reports over the weekend where military spokesman are saying individuals should not send annonamous gifts, they will not be sent! the one guy said to give through a police donation center.

Another problem is the simple fact of getting bogged down with packages. They've even limitted the Salvation Army in how many packages they can send over per month. The cash donations are likely best and can be used for what's needed at the time. If everyone sends packages, by the time they get to the guys who need them, they won't need them any more....kinda like the episode of MASH where they get a ton of snow boots in the middle of a heat wave.
