I understand it's the new shiny thing, but seems to be steadily infiltrating all the content sub-forums. In my opinion, while interesting, we should keep in mind it's really just high tech art and not actual tickling content. Perhaps AI should move to the art sub-forum or have its own dedicated section. Would be interested in the opinion of others here.

I would say it isn't art either - and I make AI images. AI makes pictures, but they're not art. I only do photographic-style images. I feel more comfortable with images that don't claim to have been drawn.

AI has its place, especially as a way for those of us who can't draw at all to visualize fantasies. And there's a certain skill involved in writing good prompts that actually work within the limits of the AI generators. And the best AI creators (which does not include me) do a lot more than just writing prompts. They take AI elements and rework and recombine them in Photoshop to create much more complex and original scenes than AI by itself can manage.

All of that being said, I agree that AI would be better if it were more confined here and on other forums. I'm not sure if a sub-forum makes sense or not, but it seems worth considering.

We have this discussion at the Museum I work out, all the time, given the museum I work at is also an art Gallery, its a hot topic for sure, especially in the creative industry whether that's song writers, play writers even voice actors. I read an article not long ago about a person that won a art contest with a AI piece, of course the winner didn't disclose to the competition at the time that it was AI and the piece won. Only a few weeks later after the competition they disqualify the winner and took the win away from them upon discovering it was actually made with AI. The winner was in up arms about this (obviously) claimed that even thou they had used AI, it was still their concept and idea, they just used a tool(like an artist uses a paintbrush) to create it.

It is an interesting argument for sure and since I work in an industry where I see art and stuff a lot, it doesn't surprise me that it still is and current. in my opinion I am on the fence with it still, I think its amazing that AI allows someone to created magic, especially someone who might not have a talent for drawing(like myself for instant) but I have had ago of an early programme, and just by simply inputting a few words of what sort of art piece, style and scene you want, and it just does it, has 5 version you pick one and it instantly copy writes that image to you.. it surprised me just how easy it was, a bit to easy, to say their is actually any skill in it. Maybe in the future if it become more advance and it requires more knowledge of shading, or you have to do each individual bit then I might change my mind.

So I still think its great for at least allowing anyone to create and use their imagination, but I am no where close to dubbing any artist that uses it, like the next Picasso! ^^; but again that just my opinion.
