the man passed away yesterday at the ripe old age of 95.

he is rumoured to be playing bridge with peter ustinov.

It would appear mr. reaper is after those with lots of class these days.........Sigh...another great loss......

"Alister Cooke had a long, rich life, what they used to call a "Renaissance Man."

Peter Ustinov...a great, great actor! He was so talented, he could be brilliantly funny as well. Not long ago, I saw 'Quo Vadis' on AMC. He played Nero even better than Victor Buono played King Tut on Batman. Must be seen...

Blimey!........

......a very sad loss. His regular feature on BBC Radio four called "Letter from America" is one of the longest running shows in radio history. The show has become part of the fabric of English life, its very hard to accept the fact that he will not be broadcasting again.

His insights in to American life, and international affairs in general have been enlightening and thought provoking, I have always looked forward to listening when ever I can. They are sometimes comforting, sometimes amusing and sometimes challenging, but always intelligent, informed and engaging.

A great loss to both the U.S. and the U.K.
